I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit with 4 GB RAM... My Intel Core Duo 1.73 GHz doesn't support 64 bit. I have been looking into a Intel Core 2 Duo, but don't know if my computer's motherboard is compatible. I have a Toshiba P105-s6177.

I don't think so. Since upgrading CPU may result in BIOS error. You may need to upgrade the BIOS as well when upgrading the CPU.
