I am unable to run "all Programs" from the start menu, also when I Click "My Computer/right click disc C/properties, nothing happens for a few seconds then blue screen comes up for a second or two then reverts to desktop.

Any suggestions?? Was working ok until I installed Panda 2006

Symptoms point to explorer (explorer.exe) crashing when a shell extension or context‑menu handler runs. The pattern you describe — Startmenu "All Programs" failing to expand and a quick blue‑screen/flash when right‑clicking C: — often appears after an AV adds a shell hook. ’s suggestion to try removing Panda is a sensible first test, and ’s request for the exact STOP text and Panda edition will help narrow the faulting module if you get error details.

Quick troubleshooting checklist (in order):

  1. Boot to Safe Mode (F8 during boot). If the Start menu and Properties work there, a third‑party extension is almost certainly the cause.
  2. If Safe Mode is OK, uninstall Panda cleanly (Control Panel uninstall or Panda removal utility). If Explorer crashes prevent uninstall, use Safe Mode or disable Panda via msconfig/Services first.
  3. Check Event Viewer: run eventvwr.msc and look under Application/System for explorer.exe errors at the crash time — note the faulting module name (DLL). That tells you which component to remove.
  4. Use a shell‑extension manager (Autoruns or ShellExView) to disable non‑Microsoft context‑menu handlers and test. Disable in small groups and retest.
  5. Run integrity checks: sfc /scannow and chkdsk C: /f (may require reboot). These catch corrupted system files and disk errors.
  6. Create a new user account to rule out profile corruption.

If those steps don’t fix it, consider System Restore to a point before the Panda install, or a Windows repair install as a last resort. Back up important data and the registry before manual edits. If Event Viewer explicitly names a Panda DLL, mention that when contacting Panda support — they often provide targeted removal instructions or a cleanup tool.

Hi salty, welcome to the forum. Panda is kind of a resource hog, so it may be causing some conflict, in your computer. I would uninstall it and see if your problems disappear. If the problem disappears, then I would have to suspect Panda. If you want a good AV program, get AVG Free.

Perhaps, you could tell us more about your computer system, so that we can better help you.

Here is a list of programs I recommend people have:
I only list here, the free programs that I have used and I’m satisfied with, I know there are other great programs, but these are just the ones that I use, and can verify, as being worthy.
