Hi,

Apologies for a very basic question, but it's not an area I know. I want to create applications that work with databases on the web and I'm ok with that, but not the IIS part which seemingly I need.

I've updated from XP Home to XP Professional and have IIS v5.1 started. However whenever I try to use localhost I'm getting "Page not found", even on the IIS help pages.

If I drill down in the IIS snap on I notice "Default Web Site (Stopped), and no matter what I do this will not start, I get an error "The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion".

Is this a red-herring, do I need this started or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Again apologies for the simple question. :o

Cheers
Steve

I've got it working now after some playing with the services and ports etc
