Let me guess? 750gig hard drive? I work in the local coputer shop and recently we have been getting lots of windows 8 laptop's come in with faulty hard drives.
Best thing to do is to remove the hard drive and connect it to another computer via a usb adapter and test it with hdtune which is free and easy to find with google.
If it has bad sectors, get a new one.
