i just reformatted my desktop pc, once windows had finished the install, i found that i formatted the wrong drive!!!!!!!
now all my photos, music, documents and other various bits of shit are now gone. is there any apps that recover files that have been fully formatted over?

you did a quick format? and yes there are utilities unless one does a low level format.

Or look up professional data recovery services. They charge money, but could be worth it.

Restore them from the backup disks you made.
If you didn't make any backup disks, you will from now on. Make two copies.
