I got a little nostalgic recently thinking back to the 80's when I'd print some code on fanfold paper through a dot matrix. I liked being able to flip back and forth through the pages looking for code to optimize and make notes with a red pen. I could do it anywhere and it was easier to review distant parts than on a screen. I thought it would be interesting to see what 9 and 24 pin dot matric printers are available these days. Good Lord! Have you seen the price of impact printers?

The Epson MX-80 or was it RX-80 was about 500USD in 1985.
Adjusting for inflation this would be about $1,500 today.

What price did you find too high?

commented: Yes, adjusting for inflation, they're not bad. I just can't see $1,500 for a dot matrix. Guess it's a specialty market now. +9

They don't use ink or toner, but I can't imagine how much thermal paper costs.

That's about what you pay for the best Xerox paper in my neck of the wood. Not bad. A lot more expensive than the cheap 20lb copy paper Office Depot sells.
