Thanks all.. I just asked for a refund. I'll have another question, then, how to find the best AV-package for my machine?

I just bought McAfee for a year, but I get this error at the beginning of the installation:

"Something went wrong with the insatallation"

Any help?

Hello,

I"m trying to make a nice USB-stick, with a Windows 10 ISO file on it. But where do I get that ISO file? I'm not looking for the tool which makes your USB-stick a bootable one. I'm looking for the actual ISO file

Thanks

I'm trying to install Unreal Tournament 3 in Windows 11, but I get the message "Deze app is voor uw veiligheid geblokkeerd" which means "This app is blocked for your safety". What can I do?

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

Oh.. well all MY files is ok, too.

Copying to Google Drive doesn't work, to DropBox doesn't work, sending to my own GMail doesn't work... any other ways?

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

Like.. not at all? :-s

Hello. I'm searching for 1 simple thing. How do I copy all files from my Samsung A10 to my laptop?

Thanks in advance

I don't know much about Teams. We use it in our housing to arrange meetings.

Maybe this information can help..

There's a more permanent way to sign in to Microsoft Teams. If you're having trouble completing the process, talk to your IT admin.

Addition:

We're sorry—we've run into an issue.

If that doesn't work, try signing out and back in.

Hello.

Can you tell me how to disable Teams from starting up while windows starts up? Thank you

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

Select New and add the Mingw-w64 destination folder path to the system path. The exact path depends on which version of Mingw-w64 you have installed and where you installed it. If you used the settings above to install Mingw-w64, then add this to the path: C:\msys64\mingw64\bin.

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

There are no files in C:\msys64\mingw64\bin

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

I'll check that out, but is that really the answer to my question?

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

I have MinGW installed on Windows 10. Can you help me compile something with it?

I get this

$ g++ first.cpp -o first
bash: g++: command not found

And then

$ apt-get install g++
bash: apt-get: command not found

Hello. By accepting AVG as my central protection unit I let in AVG browser. I don't want this, because it agressively sets itself as my default browser. I don't want to install it from my system, though, I wan't to disable it from running in my environment. Anybody here who can tell me how to do that? Thank you

Are there any standards for single/double quotation marks in all the different programming languages? What matters to me right now is Python. Should I use 'single quotation marks' or "double quotation marks" for the strings?

Thank you

What I would like to do is to register a couple of shortcuts to move the mouse cursor. The cursor should jump from the one square area of the screen to the other. The question that comes to mind first is: which keys are not used (or at least not often) so they can be used for this purpose? Of course, the arrow keys stand out as good candidates.

Anybody out there who can enlighten me? Thanks

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

Hello.

I've got a couple of browsers installed and I have a question about that:

Is it possible to transfer a tab from the one browser to the other? Let's say: from AVG Secure Browser to Opera?

I don't really prefer the one browser above the other. Maybe I will grow something like that.

We need browsers.

Thanks, greetings, Leon

Thanks all, Windows 10 is up and running now.

With Windows 7 I got something weird. In Windows 10 I get it again. In Linux I don't get it. "It" is some noise on the desktop. It looks like this:

Anybody able to help?

Hello. I'm tring to burn an ISO to a DVD (Windows 10 installation disc). But all the burning programs tell me that somethingis wrong, for example

"Mediadetectie mislukt" which means "Media detection failed" and other programs keep the "burn" button gray.

Is there something I can do?

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

You're right, I can get into the shell. Nice learning objective to reinstall Gnome I guess :) Thanks!

Booting from USB-stick doesn't work and DVD-player doesn't boot at all

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

When I boot into linux (Ubuntu, I'm not sure which version, a recent one) I get this error:

"
Oh no! Something has gone wrong.
A problem has occurred and the system can't recover. Please contact a system administrator.
"

I understand that I should boot from a DVD or USB-stick. But that doesn't work so well on this machine, it's an old one. Let me say, I'm going to try all that soon.

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

Hmm.. well thank you for the answer. It seems that I should make a study of something I never made a study on. Can you help me with that, then?

Thanks

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

Anybody here who can tell me how to send a link in Instagram chat? Of course, not as plain text, but as a link.

Thank you

When I follow this

https://www.eltima.com/article/virtualbox-usb-passthrough/

I get this

https://ibb.co/gTyp71H

BTW: I installed the Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

That's because I'm the man of klunky stuff.

I'm running Windows 10 now. Kobo Desktop works in there. That doesn't mean I can upload the files now. But I'll find it all out by myself. FYI: I'm running Windows 10 in VirtualBox. Can't see the USB-ports. But I should be able to manage that.

That's it for now

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

It seems not. But there is a Calibre for Linux.

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

It seems there is no Linux version of the Desktop app. And Calibre should work, it did for me once. I'm just not sure how to make it able to upload files to the device.

And I seem to remember that the Kobo Desktop app is not so decent.

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

I have an ereader and I'm trying to upload books to it. Therefore I use the app Calibre. But the "send to device" options all don't allow me to do so. Any users of this app here?

Thanks

I must add: The device is a Kobo Glo

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

The problem solved itself. I started up Linux today and now I can use the device.

Right now I'm not really in the mood for reading all those entries. Maybe tomorrow. Thanks anyway.

I'm trying to save something on my external HD, but I get this error:

Unable to access "TOSHIBA EXT"

Not authorized to perform operation (polkit authority not available and caller is not uid 0)

I made a snapshot of the error window, but that doesn't go to well either. I would say, this is enough information to help me out. If not, we'll see later.

I use Ubuntu 20.10

Leon

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

The question is soled.

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

I got an error when I opened the machine from the new folder. But I figured out how to solve this: I had to delete the machine from the list in VirtualBox. Now it runs well! :-)

rproffitt commented: That's correct. When we move the machine (that big file) the list in VirtualBox would fail. Delete, make a new entry. +0
Xozz 105 Junior Poster

It works! Now I have a new problem: I installed the machine in a folder where I don't want it to be installed. Can you tell me how to replace a machine folder?

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

I'm downloading an Windows 10 64-bit ISO now. It should work. I'll tell you if it didn't, or did.

rproffitt commented: I thought you should get the 32 bit Windows 10 given your hardware? +15
Xozz 105 Junior Poster

Thanks for your reply. I'm just trying to find out what other people think. I could also have told about a book on my shelf about C++, from 2002.

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

Hello. I'm trying to learn LInux. The book I read states that you should know how to use Vi. What is your opinion about that?

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

Self esteem, honestly.

Well then, an update:

I have a Windows 7 64-bit ISO. VirtualBox supports just a 32-bit version, or so it seems right now. I'll give some more information later.

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

I found it:

https://ibb.co/Ss8sNB1

And VirtualBox runs for a while but it doesn't do anything probably because I haven't a ISO selected :-p If you know how to load one please tell me, but of course I'm going to look for that for myself.

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

It's done. I just had to change the Input Source. I can produce characters with accents now through AltGr and dead keys.

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

In between, I managed to use my webcam. But now, I'm using Linux and it's not fully functional in there. I can narrow down the question, however...

Which browser(s) support the webcam?

It's because I found a webbased version of Skype, which doesn't work because of the browsers I use.

And finally:

Microsoft Teams doesn't work so well in Linux. But I'll look for that by myself. I think I'll manage

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

Hello. I'm new to the whole Linux thing and I have something for a topic.

In Windows you can produce characters with accents via a shortcut. For example: " followed by e brings forth ë. I miss this in Linux. Somebody told me that I should ask for help writing software by myself to make this possible. That's why I opened this topic.

I'm not very experienced with programming. The only thing I ever did is creating a game. It's not even finished. I have a Github account.

I'm hoping to meet someone who gets me through this.

Thanks,

Leon

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

Thanks. That's the answer I was waiting for.

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

What I was aiming for is the Windows-way of bringing forth characters with accents. Now that I got to know the way of using UNICODE my need is a little bit decreased. Still, I someone knows how to get the Windows-way integrated in Linux I would be very happy! :-)

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

I think I know enough for now.

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

I have LibreOffice installed. I see that you can select Special Characters. That's a way to produce characters with accents. But isn't there a way to get to those characters in the whole system? Like in Windows: typing ' and then e does the trick.

Xozz 105 Junior Poster

Hello. My name is Leon. I'm from the Netherlands. I've been opening topics for a while here. I thought it would be allright to ask you for your opinion. I do this by asking the question:

What is your favorite search engine?

Happy replying :-)

What I mean is accents. Like: à, è, ù
