I'll try that. I found out in the Linux box I can see the shared folders in the Windows box. But when I open Network Neighborhood in Windows I don't see any shared folders from my Linux box. Any thoughts?

I know this is a dumb question: Does the hard drive in Linux get fragmented like in Windows? If so does Linux have a defrag program or wilL I havve to donwload one.
I've seen Fedora screenshots and it looks real impressive. This type o Linux is good for people like me who want to learn Linux more on a user-friendly basis until I am more comfortable to explre the different commands and the power and stablility of Linux. It's a change from Windows and a challenge.
This is a great site and people are helpful..A++++++++

Hi,
I installed RH 8.0. It didn't detect my sound card which is a SB16. After installation I ran sndconfig, had no such fil or command. So I installed it since it wan't installed and it gave me the same error when I installed it. I ran the command at root. What gives? Thanks.
Aumix doesn't get reset to 0, I have checked it. If it has one, how do I initialize the sound server? Thanks
IBM Thinkpad 560X, PII233mhz,64MMB Ram. 4.0GB hard drive. Mandrake detected everything but sound.
When I installed Mandrake it din't detect my soundcard. I used sndconfig and yes I heard the sound samp;e. I went into KDE System Notification because you can test the sound. I tried to test it but no sound was heard. I checked aumix and nothing seems to be muted, Mandrake supports the integrated sound, it's a Crystal audio cs423x. Thanks
I installed Mandrake 9.2 on a Laptop. It didn't detect the sound but I used sndconfig and configured it. I guess the problem is I don't get sound as user. What can I do?
