Hi
been working in the IT environment for some years now and never before has it taken me more than 3 hours to install a Operating system with its softies, currently its taking you more than a day to resolve this...Tripple Ouch!!!

Hi all

This is not a fix but a reasonable workaround. I would've just Booted to the "new" OS, copied all the data over from the "old" OS and installed the necessary drivers and software onto the new. When done I would've just deleted the old windows folder and who would've guessed I'm working on a new install :)

You must keep in mind that some mobo's just doesnt work well with soem hardware and might have some fault behavior.

I have a sahara usb mouse looks very cute, but whenever I restart switch on my pc whilst on the desktop I sometimes have to remove the mouse a number of times before my mouse will work.
The only reason why I still have the mouse is cos the retard looks cute. I know its the mouse cos I tested it on other pc's with the same result.

Now Im not saying that is the case with your ipod but the possibility is there. If you hav all your chipset drivers, Service Packs and usb drivers, correct Ipod Drivers installed than that issue might very well pooint to your mobo

I wouldnt advise anyone to cheat but i wouldve cheated. would never hand in a bank paper. period.

ps now im waiting for my fellow posters to attack me.
I love ya guys

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi

Do you have a USB mouse, keybard or printer. if you do try any of those in the USB ports If it works then the problem can eighter be the USB cable of the Ipod or the Ipod itself.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi
Make sure you have the right drivers for your Hardware (Wireless Adapter)
If you have the correct software for the for the Wireless Card then it should work. Wireless is relatively easy.

When you go to Device manager do you see any yellow exclamation marks ? Or when you go to Device Manager and click the Network Devices plus + sign to display the device underneath it what do you see.

To get to Device Manager:
Right click My Computer>click on Manage>In the left pane double click Device Manager.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi
In order for a wireless connection to work you going to need a wireless network card, a Network Access Point (NAP) and a Service Provider.

You then obviously gonna need the drivers for the wireless card and depending on you're Service Provider you going to do some basic configuration with regards to your wireless settings.

You can contact any good Service Provider for more information on this.

Hi DragonFire

You didnt mention you getting physical on the laptop. I think its time tp shift gears and open the laptop to remove the cmos battery for 45 min to clear the BIOS(password included).

You can do this if you're comfortable with lappies and pc's

That usually does the trick for quite a number of BIOS issues.
This site might also give you some greater insight and more leads
http://www.raymond.cc/blog/archives/2008/07/06/how-to-reset-remove-clear-or-reveal-cmos-bios-security-password/

As for the laptop being slow you might want to try registry mechanic or any other trust worthy registry repairer. Usually after removing malware its most likely to have a negative effect on you're registry.

Cheers for now Sids

Hi
Can you still Boot into XP asswell??

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Go to the drive where Paperport One Touch is (was) installed, by default it should be C:\Program Files\Paperport One Touch
If you can locate it then simply highlight the folder and hit delete on you're k-board. whola...gone in sixty seconds :)
If you cant find it there than its most likely removed already

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Sorry mate dont have much time lately but Ill recommend that you rather by a new board if you have a couple of dollars to spend.
PLease Do keep in touch, Cheers for now.

Hi Arkane
To rule out all problems you need to follow all possible leads that you think might be contributing to you're PC's prob. Seeing that you didnt tell me bout the RAM prob before I didnt think that RAM could be a cause of the problem. Anyways ya its like I was saying rule out all possible problems. And yes RAM can be a problem

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

hi there Arkane

like i said i wont say its the HD. You're techy is probably right. But i still say that it can be the CPU, thats if you're lucky. reason me saying it might be thats its only the CPU cos CPU overheating can eighter result in CPU damage, CPU and MOBO damage or if you're extremely lucky no damage. Thats if you took note immediately after the PC freeze. I'd suggest you get a CPU that will fit in you're socket [Dont buy one just borrow one for testing]. If that fails than you'll need a mobo.

You might want to try you're CPU in another socket. It might work than you can just buy a MOBO that will support you're other HW.That way you'll save some bucks.
As for the mobo you're reffering to, thats a fine deal.

Cheers

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi Sorry for the late reply, Internet has been down.

Ok so I'm still thinking it's another HW issue, Because if it was the HD than it would have given you a screen that says no HD detected or something similar. To confirm that case you said that its detecting the HD in the BIOS. So I'm leaning towards some other part being faulty or failing to do its duty. My concern is the fact that it was overheating [clearly as you stated a 95 degree] and might have resulted in damage to the CPU. Even though its cooled down it doesn't mean that the issue is there is solved furthermore 50 Degrees isn't satisfactory in my opinion yet. Ok enough with the detail :) . Reset you're CMOS, by removing you're CMOS battery for 10+ minutes and replacing it after the amount of time. See if there's any difference and post reply.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi
Did you apply some termal paste on you're CPU?

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi Arkane
Welcome to the forums.
Ok. Firstly I'd recommend that you make use of the least amount of HW possible. Like use on-board as far as possible. use one stick of RAM for time being, And if you can use on- board GFX etc. Apply a fair amount of thermal paste on you're CPU. Ok with that set startup you're pc and go directly into you're BIOS, making sure that the mobo is detecting you're HD. Once thats checked try booting from the OS disk again. See how it behaves and post a reply.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi
Im sure you're tried to delete it manually. if that failed to work than you might want to try this unlocker tool http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/#download
its a simple tool thats allows you to right click the file that doesn't wanna delete and choose delete. If the deletion of the file is unsuccessful than you can choose a "force delete" on that file.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi
Did you debug you're site with IE 6? I too have experienced the same with IE 6 (blank page)
For some funky reason it still does'nt display the page right. Ill suggest that you work with the more recent Browsers ie FF3 and IE7.
On a final note if the debug is right when you work locally then this should'nt be the case when you're uploadded the site.
ALternatively look at the first page when constructing and see if there's something on the page setup that might be missing on the other five pages.
:-/

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

My apologies for not making myself clear . Debug means to preview the site as you are busy constructing it. Meaning that you need to preview (debug) it in each browser that you're clients/ visitors are going to use to browse you're site. Im not firmiliar with MS's Office Publisher but Im sure theres a preview/play button. Run the preview/ play (or whatever its called in MS Office Publisher) with the different browsers to see it the preview display is the same. If the preview isnt the same on each of the browsers...well than you know that you need to adjust it on each browser in order for it to display properly.

Hi
It might be a firewall thats preventing you from getting access to the net. disable you're windwos firefall and try again.I had a customer that had pc- cillin installed on his laptop and had experienced the same prob. I finally found out that it was the win_firewall and the pc- cillin running at the same time causing the prob.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hey There
Im not a master in the Developer and programming side but Ive got some experience though. Nevertheless Im sure you debugged it with FF therefor it runs fine with all pages in FF. However what i assume you didnt do is you didnt debug it with IE's versions (or atleast not all the pages)
You dont say witch program you used to develope/code you're site but I know with VB you must debug it with all the browsers. Or thats atleast how we do it. FF, IE and Opera mostly.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Type msconfig in the run dialog box and go to the startup tab. here you can check and uncheck startup programs

Thats good, do that and lets take it from there

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Ok this sounds like fun.Coincidently I had the same prob with my personal pc last night. I got it right though. :) enough of me.
So tell me darthnite how many HD's do you have connected to you're machine? For now make sure theres only one, the OS HD. pluged in in the first IDE (MASTER), And make you're BOOT choise the MASTER HD.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Ill recommend that you do another chkdsk. If it finds bad sectors again than do it for a third time. Reason for doing chckdsk more than once is, if it finds bad sectors all the time then you know its the HD going bad that will soon probably die on you.

Cheers

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi Darthnite
Welcome to the forum

Well first of you dont have to worry about the HD yet. Remove you're GFX card and RAM then seat them properly. Then Remove you're CPU fan and CPU and replace it properly. Make sure you have enough grease on the back side of the CPU/ Heatsink.

I know you might not have removed parts from the mobo but things might have goten loose when the transfer took place. Its eighter you're RAM or GFX card. Worst case scenario its broken. But lets noot get ahead of ourselfs.

Do that and lets check it out

Actually, the way they have it set up is that each tab is like a separate process so if one tab freezes, the rest of the browser continues to work. It's a good idea, not quite enough to convince me, but a good idea none the less.

Thats something great

I tried Chrome yesterday and it looks pretty cool. I used it for 15 minutes or so and switched back to FF. will try it later again though. By the looks of it I like it so far
:)

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

yes i do but couldn't found anything :-(

Ohk lets try both of these in its order:

1

Use TRends and Glarys tools in combo

download trend micro's DOS application here (2.1MB) and the two essential pattern files namely lptXXX and sspdaX_XX(X means latest versions)witch you can find at the same site

extract/install the DOS application and the files in a temp folder(all inthe same folder) in the root of local disk, now go into safe mode and run the DOS application
??
with

Glarys Utilities

Download Glarys Utlities http://glary-utilities.en.softonic.com/

if that fails to successfully help you than try step two:

2
try a scan with this program ,.
Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebyt...are_d5756.html) to your desktop.

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure to checkmark the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad.

Let me know how it went

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

>>I'll let you know my results because I'm guessing something else has to be wrong (this board has been working decent for a few years).<<

Please let me know, Im almost certain its a cooling issue. but if you're right than we'll take it from there. :)

cheers

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

hi there
Did you try the MRT that I suggested in post #6 again??

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

It's free, how can it be buggy? Buggy software is only written by folks who want to make money on the many upgrades! :)

In my opinion its usually the free stuff thats buggy. As for Goolge's GC (Google Chrome)Ill let Ill leave it for the regulars who always like to try out new things and cry out loud about its performance and compatibility :)

cheers

Hi 'warmexxus'
While reading you're post I got so excited that I didnt even finish reading the last four sentences. reason being you one lucky guy.Meaning you're lucky you didnt frie the cpu/ board. In a nutshell its defnitely overheating. Chaky is leaning in the right direction.Follow his instructions and also Id llike to add, check you're fans ususally there two fans by default in you're tower. make sure the fan on you're CPU is positioned to draw the heat from you're CPU

Hi wareng I found the driver for you're card, follow this link
http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?action=download&driverid=1003802

[This is a membership accont however I think it should work]

if it isnt a wizzard installation of the drivers than you may need to do it manually

Manual installation:
computer management>right click hardware thaht you want to install GFX card> properties> update driver> browse the location of the downloaded files.

Good luck
Cheers for now

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

That means there's no card drivers detected, meaning no card drivers installed. you need to find the right drivers and install them. Warreng I need for you to tell me the model name of the card if you need me to help me with finding the drivers. An example of the name of the card would be geforce 8800 gt or geforce 9600 gt.

Cheers

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Ok warreng
So you're saying that everything in the red circle is unknown? there isnt even a name of the GFX card?
[See the attached file]
Get back to me as soon as you can for me to assist you immediately:)

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

This is rather strange, cleearly you need the file, give a second and Ill get back to you

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Sounds like improper drivers. Did you get the drivers with the card. If not post the name of the card so I can see if I can help you find the drivers for the card. But first Uninstall and reinstall the drivers again before posting.

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Hi Warreng
The desktop is the immediate screen when you log onto you're windows. The screen that has the walpaper that you can change where all you're icons resides including recycle bin. Follow my previous instructions and let me know how it went.

Hii there Sir
I assume this is the Operating disk that came with the laptop. When you try to BOOT again from the Disk, hitting a key when asked if you want to BOOT from disk, does it then boot from the disk, meaning does it go into a blue screen. For some reason something caused the the files not to finish it's installation

May I also ask what was the reaso/s for you doing a fresh Operating System installation

Cheers for now

Have a great day:)

sittas87 91 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

You can right click desktop>settings[tab]>advance [tab]>adapter
It should display the name/model of the Gfx card.
If the name appears the same on the card as it does in adapter propertied than you know it's the same.

Cheers and Good luck
