Hello everyone,

Does anyone have experience with hosted knowledge base software?

I need to quickly review a handful of these programs for my company. Any information is greatly appreciated.

It is always a good idea to run your document by someone else to proof. While something might sound good to you, it might not be phrased the best way for your audience.

Well lets see:
It's the day people close up their shops so they can meet can up with their families. They put on flag apparel in cult like fashion, get drunk as ----, declare their love of their country and that they're American, then with the empty bottles they shove some illegal M80s in and blow off the closet child's hand.

Yessiree bob, it's great holiday while we celebrate independence through PTSD. Just like our soldiers did.

LOL! I haven't heard it described in quite so colorful terms, but that does mostly sum it up for a lot of folks. People began to understand patriotism during the first gulf war, but it wasn't personal until September 11th.

We celebrate our freedom as well as all who are free and seek freedom from oppression. (BTW, I believe France celebrates its independence on the same date. Please correct me if I'm wrong.)

Happy Birthday U.S.A.

Happy Independence Day to all!

Let freedom ring throughout the US and around the world.:)

Hogsmeade2000, did you find your answer? The same thing just happened to my keychain drive (PNY 1GB). The old files take up space, but they are invisible. I can see new files just fine.

Icarus_Night 38 Light Poster

TragicTatoo88,

I downloaded and tried several fixes that did not work. I returned to the manufacturer's website to see if their developers have added anything useful.

PNY now has a resolution that I did not initially find. You can copy your files to your hard drive and then reinstall your flash drive. If you have a PNY, instructions and the link may be found at http://www2.pny.com/support/support_landing_cat.aspx?SectionID=1057.

I hope this helps!

I came to this same realization today and searched daniweb for an answer. Shame your post is almost a year old. Did you ever find your answers?

Whoaa.. I'm glad to see there are still people out there who don't want us all dead!

The sentiment is ok, Josh, but the scope is undeserved. We still have a lot of friends out there, even in nations that officially don't like us too well. :*

Damn straight! Super Bowl Sunday is even better :)

cowboys won the supa bowl......cowboys win cowboys win!!!!!!!

Ah, my favorite sport! We've had some great teams recently. Do either of you think a team can run the gauntlet and have a perfect season like the 1972 Dolphins? My opinion is biased since I'm a Dolphins fan.

>>There's no place like home!
I think that's true of most people around the globe.

As for the 4th, I'm working at Wal-Mart today, one of the busiest days of the year. Yesterday was non-stop shopping from the time I went to work at 9:00 a.m. until long after I left. Tons of hotdogs, hamburger and buns went out the door.

Chance of rain this evening which may put a damper on any fireworks tonight.

Ancient Dragon,
I hope you weren't rained out, and that you had a great holiday. My wife and her sister find it physically impossible to not go to Wal-Mart. It is a running joke that neither of them can go on even a weekend trip without a visit to the local Wal-Mart.

Icarus_Night 38 Light Poster

My family and I, along with some of our neighbors, had a pool party and ate hot dogs, hamburgers, and some side dishes. We also launched off quite a few fireworks last night. We had fountains, fireballs, spinners, ... the works.

I'd like to hear from those of you across "The Pond". How do you celebrate your respective national holidays?

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. :) The US is strong because of many things, not the least of which is our good relationship with friendly nations.
I am native to the US, and I have been to several other countries. There's no place like home!

I'm pretty sure that you are referring to the Spanish Inquisition ?

jbennet,

I believe you are referring to the Spanish Conquest, which commissioned such Conquistadores as Vasco de Gama, Hernando de Soto, Ponce de Leon (yes, Atlantans, it is more than a street name), and Columbus. Cortes wiped out the Aztecs, and Pizarro took on the Incas. The Mayans have already been discussed.

The Spanish Inquisition took place on the European continent. If you don't want to look it up, PM me, and I'll give you the nutshell version.

The U.S.A. is the last remaining superpower in the world. Like it or not, our problems started many years before the current Executive, Legislative, and Judiciary leadership, but national decline is something we all share.

The British Empire is but a shadow of its former self. The Spanish navy never recovered from the loss of their armada. The Japanese no longer rule the Pacific. The U.S.S.R. is now a loose confederation of states (that don't play well with each other, by the way), and recent attempts to unite groups of nations into a larger power have by and large failed. The UN is as dysfunctional as you can get, and even OPEC members hate and fight against each other. So much for one big happy.

Looking at history, all previous world powers have fallen. This includes the Mayan, Roman, Egyptian, Persian, and Babylonian cultures with no exception. I am one who loves my country, but …

I also think we need to move away from the politics, and try to have more educated people running for office... The problem is, so much money is spent ... Something should definitely be changed as to the campaigns and special interest groups..

Ah, but where to begin? You can't eliminate special interest groups without jeopardizing that portion of pork that you somehow feel is necessary. The Lower House is elected every two years, which means they spend half their time campaigning.

The original Congress was not paid for their service. Now, anyone lucky to survive one term is set for life. What can you glean from that disparity?

Icarus_Night 38 Light Poster

I'm sorry that my intent was mistaken, Mayor Berry was used as an example of the type of person that WDC would elect to Congress if that option were available. As for the taxation without representation question, our governement was formed to be of the people, by the people, and for the people. "The people" is a reference to us, not "the people" on Capitol Hill.

One thing that historians fail to mention is that they didn't want career politicians like we have today. Our first generation of representatives were doctors, lawyers, teachers, and other local leaders who met on the national level only briefly and then ajourned to live and work inside their district.

I'm not saying that this is what should happen with today's international policy. We just need to remember where we came from. If Congress is meeting, they need to be making positive changes or no changes at all. Two things that waste our money: filibusters and pork barrell spending. I like the line item veto as well.

There's my two cents. It's what's left after taxes and filling my tank.

Icarus_Night 38 Light Poster

Yeah, they have no representation in congress whatsoever.. but they can vote for president. So, they could easily use this as a reason to rebel from the union... however, I don't think the D.C. citizens have a death wish..

Hmm... Not too sure about that. They did after all vote Marion Berry for mayor.:ooh: And after getting busted for cocaine and the video released, they voted for him again!

They might not have a death wish. Perhaps they are just masochistic?:?:

Icarus_Night 38 Light Poster

Wow. After trying to read this thread I'd have to say that the most interesting part about American history is the inability of a number of Americans to remember it. [Directed at no one in particular.]

This is probably the best saying in the thread. Each of our interpretations of history depends heavily on our individual points of view. That is not necessarily right or wrong, but we can't let that dilute the facts. If we don't understand what really happened in history--in wars, economics, politics, or anything else--we haven't learned our lessons. As the saying goes, we are then doomed to repeat those same mistakes. We as a government and as a people need to make the right choices instead of the "right now" choices.

I've said my peace. I welcome your responses.

Good day,
My HP m1050y PC is not recognizing my Canon ZR200 digital video camera while it is playing tape. I installed all software included with the camera, and I registered it with Canon. No matter what software I download and install, nothing recognizes and captures the video tape.
The odd thing is that it connects right up when I flip the switch to digital and activate the SD card. I'm sure that I'm missing something stupid, but I'm not figuring it out. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Stein,
Thanks for your reply. I have tried other ports and other PCs, including those at my job. This is really a bizarre happening.

The only thing I can think of is have you tried using another USB port?

Hello, good people,

I have a PNY Attache 1Gb flash drive that is behaving strangely.

I can add files to the drive without a problem. It currently has a total of 982mb with a mere 816 kb free. I have also ran the drive through a just-updated virus check to ensure that it is clean.

Whenever I try to delete files, I get the message saying "Cannot delete (filename): The disk is write-protected. Remove the write-protection or use another disk." The PNY website says that there is no protection available for this device.

I also can not format it in Windows or Disk Manager or defrag it, getting a similar write-protection message. Does anyone have any ideas? This device is one of a 3-pack that I bought at a pretty good bargain, at least I thought it was a bargain until this one started acting up. The other two are working perfectly fine.

Thanks in advance,

I feel really stupid. I was multitasking, and I never saw this one until later. Yes, it was without a doubt a product of doctoring.

I have played a little with photography. This might be authentic, if you have a bright sun shining in through the window in the back, plus a side light, you could conjure up this effect. I'd have to see the full-sized picture to be certain.

I have a similar problem that started this thread. (Not quite as severe!) Thanks to all of you working so hard, I think I can help myself fix this thing.

The only display I get, whether with CD or not, is the usual POST/BIOS messaging and the WinXP splash screen. Then comes the moveable cursor on the blank black screen.

Icarus_Night 38 Light Poster

Nanosani,
Thanks, but I have already tried Last Known good config, safe mode, and the restore CD. Nothing comes on the screen (except the mouse) after the Windows splash screen. Since there was spyware, I believe malicious code may have compromised or outright deleted a key file. What file (dll?) controls display management on that level?
BTW, the keyboard is locked up, with the CAPS/NUM indicators remaining dark.

Hello, everyone! This is my first post. It appears that my issue is unique from any problem I have read.
My other computer is a Dell Inspiron laptop with 1.0 GHz running XP, and it will not properly boot. All it will do after POST and the "Starting Windows" spash screen is to load the cursor onto a blank screen. There is no taskbar, icons, or anything. I can move the cursor, but nothing happens. The menu does not appear when I right-click, and I can not drag to form the outline of a square.
Toggling between video output did not work. I also plugged in a monitor, but I got the same thing when broadcasting to that screen.
This started after I attempted to clean up spyware that snuck onto the machine. I can't even load Safe Mode, and the CD may or may not load, because I can't see the screen. Is there anything I can do to access my laptop? Please help! This stumped the tech crew at work.
