Microsoft says they're going to release a QWERTY device, which is basically a regular Xbox 360 controller with a keyboard added onto the bottom, that will allow users to type normally, when Microsoft releases the software on May 7.

Of course they are, and they will add a nice large price tag to it no doubt.

Should he have an iPod with him whilst on duty? I don't see why this story is being branded about t'internet, utterly pointless. Did the iPod stop the bullet? No. End of story, move on, a soldiers armour did - is that amazing? No that is what it is meant to do.

The sensationalism people give some stories amazes me sometimes. :)

I agree with that article. Where I work the whole basis is on "deadlines" not whether it actually works! It amases me that management can make huge changes that take weeks of re-work, yet the final deadlines never ever shift. Where do they think we get these extra days from?

Development is a crazy business. The only people that truely get anything, in my experience, from working in a company are contractors:
They come in
They do the same work
They get paid loads more
They leave

That's all there is to it. Granted if they mess up they will suffer from word-of-mouth and lack of references, but it just seems strange to me.

I personally don't feel a great need or dedication towards security or bug fixes. I am pressured to get my project(s) done on time - and that's all the bosses care about. So if I spend time on these 'trivial' matters that they don't loose any sleep over I get it in the neck.

To hell with Microsoft :lol:

RwCC 56 Junior Poster

This is a crazy move. I use VMW a lot, often running Windows XP or Vista to test my code. Why on earth would I want to go to a different machine, test my work, come back to my desk to fix anything, go back and re-test?!

It is far easier for me to test on VMW and fix problems here, then use a proper dedicated machine.

Plus I can see this hitting smaller development companies rather hard. Afterall most systems that currently use Vista or XP as an em'ed image are up-to-spec machines. If they had to buy multiple development machines to run the image, the cost could be rather large.

This is what, the 2nd lawsuit over a name because of Apple? They seem to be using more 'brute force' than ever.

The rival tactics of Microsoft used to laughed at by Apple, yet now they seem to be embracing these "do what we say, or pay" bad practices.

Apple - you have let me down.

Something that we normally have to do at one point is right click on a richtextbox etc to copy/paste. Now, we all know there are keyboard shortcuts but for the end user it is better to have this feature. Here is the basic code to allow you to add this feature. Of course others can be added to give increased functionality.

I hope this helps :)

This seems to come up every so often, so thought I would add it here so people can have a look if they search the site.

Reading and writing to a text file is a very basic thing in C#, most of us have to do it from very early on and several times later. It's not exactly secure (as you can obviously just open it) so shouldn't be used for passwords or user details.

I will also provide code for reading specific lines in an array of text.

The following is a simple painting program. It uses Windows Forms and will allow you to draw whatever you want.

You can also include code to change the colour or size of the brush via a right click menu by using code such as this:

MenuItem mi = new MenuItem("Option");
            mi.Click += new EventHandler(mi_Option);
            cm.MenuItems.Add(mi);

            void mi_Option(object sender, EventArgs e)
            {
            // code to change colour, size etc.
            }

There are bugs with this, if you quickly move the mouse around the lines are not solid. This is because the program is basically drawing multiple circles on the form. Still, it's simple and can be improved upon.

Lots of Google help went into this, so credit goes out to the developers better than myself :)

Fact is though EE is a good site if you need something answered. Responses are fast and there are plenty of solutions to choose from. Think the only benefit you get from points, apart from the pride (and rank) is a T-Shirt when you reach various stages.

Im a Christian and have never thought or heard anything of that sort. There are promises that God has made however i think that is a different to this concept of natural rights.

Yeah the only rights that I am aware of is the right for all men/women to learn, read and talk about the Bible. Which was rights given to Protestants from their 'split' from the false church of Rome.

you can;t get rid of the dancing. it was like the scene from Napoleon Dynamite where he just danced forever and i could not stop laughing. it was hilarious. Honestly i think Sam Raimi just wants to see what he can get out of Toby.

How could you not stop laughing during Napoleon Dynamite? It was the most unfunny scene, in the most unfunny movie I have ever had the misfortune of watching.

I felt that when he had the black suit it was funny, although the dancing infront of Mary-Jane scene was just pointless. Honestly - was there any need?

The CGI of Venom was really poorly done, and frankly there just wasn't enough of them fighting. There was also far to much crying in that movie, it started to look like a chick-flick.

Best bet:
Google for jobs

See what employers want, and go from there. Frankly its better to actually have a plan of what you want to do as its better to enjoy your work, but if you choose another way thats ok. See what people want, and go for that.

So maybe you should temper your opinions rather than propagate the very cultural bias that (it sounds like) you disapprove of. :)

Why? The internet is a free space after all. And I don't disapprove of it, you would be amazed how often saying "balaclava" can get you a seat on the train, so it comes in handy. My point was that you may say I am making a generalisation, but everyone does exactly the same, its a fact of life.

True, but I can say that you're generalizing and stereotyping based on your own misunderstood assumptions about "Americans".

Just as the rest of the world makes assumptions about my country based on accent alone.

RwCC 56 Junior Poster

You can hardly say that Americans dont have it easy as far as many things are concerned. The world realises about global warming yet America likes to shy away, imagine the horror of having to drive a regular car instead of things that are clearly built like tanks.

RwCC 56 Junior Poster

I'm almost positive that the same went around at various times during the war to protest against Bush. What annoys me is that Americans complain about the price of 'gas' whilst they race around in their fuel hungry cars paying far less than the UK does.

What America needs is higher taxes. Then, perhaps, Americans will realise how good they had it.

To be honest it would be far easier if you:
1) Posted a code snippet
2) Let us know what happens

But from a quick glance it seems that a path you set (possibly to an image, resource, etc) isn't correct or the object isnt there

RwCC 56 Junior Poster

No it's not really. I prefer the original Office, watched the American one once and as always you Americans butcher classics.

I would also suggest if you havent already listened you should check out the Ricky Gervais Podcasts and Extras.

Then Email jagex (just like it has been suggested numerous times in this thread) and ask them how you can recover it, they can probably check your IP against what one last played and sort something.

Just look on the main website for support.

Both are easy, but I would select hardware as I prefer it over OS problems.

RwCC 56 Junior Poster

Hey everyone,

I have been told there is a way to get a users login name and their SID in C#, does anybody have code or know a very detailed and easy to understand site?

What I am trying to do is this, when a user logs in my application starts, I then need to update a table in PostgreSQL to change the amount of logins they have. But to do that (as there will be many different users) I need the username that logged in, and the SID to search and update.

Can anybody help me out please?

Cheers,

:cool:

I dont train combat that often or any other skills, I mainly just do a few things here and there. The skill I train most often is WC and fletch to try and make money.
