I am kind of new to JAVA and I am trying to hide a user's input (such as when the user types a password). I am not using any type of GUI just running my small programs directly in the UNIX Terminal. Is this possible to do simply, unfortunately I am not very proficient with JAVA yet and am trying to learn.

or use a JPasswordField instead of a JTextField

As he told he is not using any GUI. He is using the UNIX Terminal (i.e. Console).
