I am a new member of the free Unix sdf.lonestar.org. I tried to compile and run a C++ program I wrote, but it would not let me compile.
I wonder if it's because I haven't paid the $36. Arpa membership fee yet.
Does anyone know if this is the problem???

And what is that? A shell account? Most shell accounts will restrict your use of the system (such as compiling and running custom programs) to protect against malicious use.
