Accessing a mySQL db or something similar

Hi,

I'm an experienced developer but not done much in c++ and wanted to get some basic database operations in my program, open, store, retrieve etc.

Does anyone have any good links that could get me started?

I unfortunately google has a lot of people who think they can develop, there are very few decent web pages to get useful information.

Anyhow, I've run into a few issues when trying to use mySQL connectors.
