3x3 square grid Java

Hello all!

I am a completely new to programming in Java and I was recently given a tutorial in which I was supposed to create a 3x3 square grid. I am attaching a file as to give you a clear picture of what I must do. I have no idea where to begin and will greatly appreciate your help as to guide me through this.

If this is a homework problem, you should read over your assignment and come up with some specific questions. Pick out the parts of the assignment that you need help with and list them with your questions.

Look at the GridLayout manager for one way to get a 3x3 grid.

You might want to look over your class notes again.
No prof is going to give you an assignment that they haven't already covered (or is about to cover) the material you require to complete the assignment.
