What is AJAX? (I'm not exactly JavaScript's best friend)

I have no idea what AJAX is -- other than the fact that it has something to do with JavaScript :yawn:

I'm not that talented with JavaScript other than variables, functions, alerts, confirmation boxes, and simple stuff like that.

Any links that would help me learn AJAX would be greatly appreciated! =)

sorry but I don't understand some of you guys. Is it so difficult to type in google search for word AJAX? :) there are tons of information about it :) I would understand if it would be some specific problem, but come on, to find what ajax means, isn't it much faster to type one word in goole than type whole message in the forum?
