Hello, I have read numerous forums on this issue and is seems each case/resolution is specific to the persons file. I have the same error, but can't find where it is coming from. This is from a wordpress site I did not create - this just appeared out of nowhere without anyone editing the file. I have attached a screenshot of the error. I did add the ob_start(); per a forum I found and it did get rid of a different error about the header. Any help would be greatly apprecated!

It probably means you're missing a semi-colon somewhere. Can't tell without seeing the code. Check your functions.php file.
EDIT: I didn't look closely enough at the file path. This isn't the functions.php in your theme folder as I originally assumed. There might be something wrong with your WP installation. I'd try switching to a different theme and seeing if you still get this error. If you do, it's something wrong with your WP installation, and I'd reinstall. If you're not getting the error on another theme, you need to dig deeper.

Ok, thank you for your response. The error is still there when I switch themes.
It is WordPress 3.5.1 - I know there is an update available but I am just a little nervous about updating it an not being able to fix the site should something be off, I am able to do a backup first, but still... Are there typically issues when updating? Do you think this may fix the issue? Thanks again.

I don't think I've ever had issues when updating. Is this a live site or a development site? If this is a dev site, personally I'd use WordPress's Export Tools to backup everything (categories, posts, pages, menus, etc.). Backup your theme folders too and any plugins you may want. Record all your site Settings. Then I'd download the latest WP from www.wordpress.org and do a fresh install.
