Hi, my name is Darice. I used to handle hardware and software some years back when I worked as a systems project manager for a large corp. but no longer work and mainly now just sit in front of my PC and use the Internet.

I came across your forum while researching an IE problem which I'll post later.
Lots of interesting posts!! Glad to be aboard.

Ok so incase it isn't obvious... I am ReDuXs girlfriend. And I'm atempting to learn a bit of what he knows. Considering he is the most intellegent man I have ever spoken to that is quite the task.

I help him run some of his websites, ok I answer questions and pass them on to him, but I feel useful... :o

I have a great teacher, so I hope I can learn a lot.

Hey all! I'm Jason and I'm a struggling comp sci major at Texas Christian University. I've been doing programming in Java for the last two years and I'm presently taking a class in Data Structures (bleh!) And next semester I'll begin programming in C++. Anyhoo, just wanted to get on here and have my presence be known. I'll post any questions that might come up. Thanks

Thanks for any help any of you champs can give.

Go aberdeen!

Hi to all the newcomers. Dani's been busy with personal matters lately and hasn't been able to drop in much, so I'll welcome you all on her behalf and express out desire that you find this forum helpful, and that you remain here and pass on your own experiences and knowledge for the benefit of others.

Remember everyone, the 'expert' is only the bloke who's read a few more pages of the manual than you have! ;)

Oh, by the way elton. 'Rule' number one is that fancy fonts and multi-cloloured text are hard to read, and people often don't like to see them. Well, okay, it's not really a 'rule'. But it's a truism nevertheless :D

Hey Catweazzle! I still do stop by here as often as I can, although I don't post as much as I should be. But, I know that Aussie in you will explain to me what a bloke is, right?

Hi Dani,

The Koorie in me says that a 'bloke' is a 'fella'. The pedant in me says that a 'fella' is a 'man'. The larrikin in me says that I shouldn't use the term 'guy', because saying 'guy' is 'gay'. The PC Gamer in me says that 'gay' in that sense has nothing whatsoever to do with homosexuality.

But above all, the 'nice old bloke' in me says that I shouldn't really have used such a gender-specific term!

:D

Greetings all. I am new to this forum or any other but have begun to have problems with some of my programming classes and thought some fresh minds might not only make for good help but good friends. I will try to post help whenever i can.

Hi everyone,
SHellie here. yes I am new to the forum. Just looking for answers on problems that lovely AOL & Microsft dream up while I am sleeping.
SHellie

Hi all ...
Love this forum, I am very new to it and very in-experienced, however i do know what a blue screen looks like...

If i can help i will... if Catweazle doesn't beat me to the punch...

Welcome to the newer members, and we hope you all stay long and contribute whatever you wish to. Please don't hesitate from posting your ideas and comments simply because someone else has already posted an 'answer'. None of us think of everything, or even get it 'right' all the time, after all.

The more activity we have the better! :D

Hi All,

i new member to this group. please welcome me in grand style.

Hi,
I'm from the UK and have just recently registered. Outside of the obvious reasons to logging on this site, I have strong interest in music/artsl - song writing being the main one.

hi

i am mahindar from India. Today is my first day. I have browsed the site from sometimes. I have found the site very useful.

Thanks

i came here not to lurk, but to sieze control of system 10.3 with the help of one of you brain surgeons. :)

somehow, when changing computers from G3 to G4, and system 9 to system, i have administrated myself a password that i can't remove and therefore can upgrade NOTHING.

so far, i've inverted the screen, re-installed the entire system 6 times or so (maybe seven), have pestered thelife out of the internet company trying to re-establish connectivity.

so far, i have managed to poke enough buttons to fix most of those things (except for the inverted screen which a person in a different mac forum helped me to fix, but in re-installing and etc. repeat... i lost all those bookmarks.

and now, i've found you. :)

is there anybody here who can tell me how to dis-administrate myself? i'm not EVEN going to go through the inverted screen trick again. thanks!

Hello Mahindar ! I am Sani from Pakistan, your neighbour :). Nice to meet you here.

Hello Everyone,
I came across this site while doing a search on Alan Turing. Why? A)I'm reading 'Cryptonomicon', and B)I was bored at work.
I work as a PC Technician for a large paint company in Cleveland, OH, I have a little experience in VB6, Java, JavaScript, and HTML. But programming is not my calling, so you'll most likely catch me in the Tech Support threads.

Later,
Catnip

"Have you ever stopped to think, and forgot to start again?"

hi..i'm tiegan..and i haven't got a clue :o

I'm new here myself. Looking forward to solutions and assistance with the odd things that crop up in my administering two Macs at work and another two at home. I've been maintaining Macs since '89 in small environments to continuing accolades from my collegues - they just do not understand how easy it is to keep a Mac running sweetly. Now OSX is here and all the 'first-line' solutions have changed. I'm slowly coming to terms with the new techniques and expect to use this site for the deeper questions.
Thanks, Dani, for making this available to us 'workers in the field'. Now I don't need MacFixit anymore. And, maybe, I can offer some advice as well. BTW a Kiwi is a bird - the bitter green thing is a Kiwifruit (originally called Chinese Gooseberry).
Cris

Hey everyone! Hey CrisKiwi ... I actually revamped the forum structure today, breaking down the mac section into a bunch of categories ... have a look here: http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/forum11.html

Hoping to take advantage of this great information exchange - however, I don't see where the "new thread" to post a new message is. I'm off to a great start! Thanks!
