One of my favourite things about Microsoft is that whatever its critics say, it popularised computers as easy to use items. Windows, on its third run, brought the graphical user interface to the fore (and yes of course I know it had been around for a while as Gem, Apple and goodness knows who else, but it hadn't been popularised).

Then Microsoft does something like this. Builds a security feature that stops Google Maps working.

Some people I know say this is a good thing. You can always turn it off, they say. To me, though, it's a return to the days when your computer told you how to work and not the other way around. If I were them, I'd get rid of it or modify it somehow.
