I'm buying a new computer to do video editing and have settled on the Dell XPS 420 based on a recommendation in PC Magazine and the price> PC Magazine recommended having Xcelerator included and I was thinking of adding this on after I received my XPS from Dell. But after scanning the Dell forums, it appears Dell claims this cannot be done except when the video card is factory-installed.
I'm confused because several vendors including Dell offer the Xcelerator as a stand-alone purchase. Am I viewing this wrong, or is Dell just scamming to inflate the price of the XPS? If the latter is the answer, how hard would it be to install Xcelerator at home, and might doing so void some Dell warranty?
Any help on this is appreciated.
