So I've been scouring the net for this answer, and found this website and you guys seem pretty smart so i decided to register see if i can fix my problem and then help out in these forums.
anywho,
It goes like this, I was playing a game and my computer locked up and restarted, then i rebooted and had purple lines on my boot screen so I just figured my vid card had gotten hot, i let it cool and the lines had gone away so i restarted the game, lowered the settings and continued playing to only have it happen again.
soooo once again i turned my computer off, let it cool, and now when i start up windows normally i have a garbled screen ( with the windows xp geniuine in the bottom right hand corner perfectly displayed ) and i can log in, and then it locks.
when i boot into safe mode, all is well.
when i boot into VGA mode, all is well until i try to make any of the video settings higher ( anything higher then 8-bit, higher resolution ).
i took everything out, reseated it, took it out again, re-thermal compounded it, put it back in, pulled hair, cried, the normal.
so, is my video card on the brink of dying?.
are my drivers messed up?
any ideas guys?
Thanks,
<3
