hi have a toshiba a60 sat pro when try to boot from hd passes self test and just get flashing cursor in top right of screen when try boot from cd passes self test and get no bootable media in atapi cd or black screen any one help regards marty

My first thought would be that you have a hard drive problem, maybe corrupted and it cant find the drivers for your CD drive.
Do you have a spare hard drive you could replace it with to see if you can do a fresh install? Or if you have a recovery disk try that and see if can repair anything.

hi tried recovery disc and another hd but to no avail discs show up in bios recovery disc or a boot disc just freezes on checking boot cd boot from hd and just cursor or black screen regards martin

So you can get into the BIOS? Is it picking up your hard drive?
Can you start or attempt to start in safe mode? Does it do the same thing?

try holding f8 to boot in safe just goes blank after toshiba welcome screen hd recognised in bios so is optical but cant boot of optical wondering if botyh optical anbd hd duff

put brand new hd in and dvd drive tried to install xp no joy disc reads screen comes up with text then freezes really confused
