I seem to be having a series of problems, and wonder is a virus is the problem. I use Norton Anti Virus, Norton Internet Security 2007, XSoftspy v 4.23, and Ad-ware. (All are run regularly.) I also use Norton Ghost to regularly mirror my primary drive to a secondary harddrive.
Xsoftspy discovered a Trojan a while back and I quarrantined it.
This morning I downloaded/ran AVG according to the directions posted by 'Stein and discovered both my harddrives to be infected with Backdoor.Rbot.gpq. This has also been quarantined.
However the problems remain after a hard boot:
1.) Norton won't run the Live Update. I get this message: "Some binaries are not signed - possible tampering may have occurred" or "A problem is preventing Windows from checking the license on this computer. Error code: 0x80070002" I've checked the norton site for weeks for a fix and emailed Norton several times, but... you guessed it, nothing.
2.) System is running extremely slow and sometimes hangs
3.) When I try to download itunessetup.exe, the connection is dropped after several hours and I get the message, "Internet Explorer can't download from applednld.apple.com.edgesuite.net. The connection with the server was reset." I have deleted the temporary Internet files after each attempt, but... you guessed it, same problem each time.
