sneaky malware? HJT log, please help!

Hello,
Lately my computer has been running extremely slowly. The CPU usage will spike and my programs will freeze up. Generally I'm only running Word or Firefox, so I don't know why it's acting like this. I ran Ad-aware and did a virus scan, and both came up clean. It soesn't run like this every time I use the computer; it happens maybe two or three times a month. A friend suggested I run Hijack This! and post a log here, and I'm hoping you folks can help me figure out what's wrong!

Now, close all instances of Internet Explorer and any other windows you have open except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Anti-Malware_d5756.html) to your desktop.

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure to checkmark the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Download the update from here if you have problems.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad.
* Post the log back here.

So I tried to run the online scan this afternoon, but my computer is freezing up something fierce and I can't get it to work long enough to get to the site and run the scan...
Also, /i'm getting notification that various files on my computer are corrupted... the latest one to show this has been a folder full of vacation pictures. Nothing sketchy in there so far as I can tell!
I'm starting so suspect that this isn't malware-related, and is more simply a case of my 6 month old computer being a piece of junk.

Might want to check if it is overheating or something? If you have another pc, it might be a good idea to backup some of your files to it.
