Hi guys
Recently had to re-install XP on this PC. Tried to download and install AVG (and a host of other) free AV software,download starts, but stops in the middle. In all of them. Suspected malware but no idea how to proceed. Tried downloading MBAM as well. No success. All other download functions normal.
I know this is little info, but tell me what you need and I'll proceed to supply.

Try to download and install ccleaner to your PC.
Scan the registry integrity and fix the problem if it has.
Then try to redownload and reinstall the said AV.
Tell me your PC's Specs...for further analysis.
PC is P4 2.8 1GB RAM running XP home SP3

So you have WinXP Home Edition right?
