I'm just wondering if I did something incorrectly. No one will reply to this post. Any help from anyone will be appreciated.

You did the right thing, we're just pretty short of helpers this week, and there are a lot of people who need help. Please bear with us; I'll try to get to you soon.

Ok DMR thanks for the reply. I will keep checking daily.

Your log does show signs of a few "unwanted guests", so let's start with some general cleaning steps:

You will need to close/quit all web browser programs and disconnect from the Internet for much of the following, so you should print out these instructions or save them into a text file with Notepad.

1. Download and install these utilities (but do not run scans with them yet):

ewido Security Suite (trial version) - http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Microsoft Anti-Spyware beta - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...&displaylang=en

- Open ewido. In the main screen, click "Update" and click "Start Update". After the update process completes, exit from Ewido.

- Open MS Antispyware beta. Make sure the "AntiSpyware Autoupdater" feature is enabled, and that it has downloaded the most current antispyware updates. Close the program after you've verified this.

- Open Norton Antivirus and use its Live Update feature to make sure that you have the most current virus definitions installed. As with the above programs, don't run a scan with Norton; just close it once it is updated.

2. Download and install the CCleaner utility, but don't run it yet.

3. Run HijackTHis again, put a check mark next to the following entries, and then click the "Fix checked" button. Close HJT once it has finished performing the fixes:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {FB70BCA3-7711-56CC-4345-5F50DD5331E6} - C:\WINNT\system32\emjiawun.dll
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FB70BCA3-7711-56CC-4345-5F50DD5331E6} - C:\WINNT\system32\emjiawun.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows TaskAd] C:\Program Files\Windows TaskAd\WinTaskAd.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Tomr] C:\Documents and Settings\Steve Haligowski\Application Data\rcrh.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Cser] C:\Documents and Settings\Steve Haligowski\Application Data\atsc.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Jcldok] C:\WINNT\system32\??plorer.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Ubud] "C:\Program Files\amra\tarl.exe" -vt mt

4. Reboot into Safe Mode (you get to the safe mode boot option by hitting the F8 key as your computer is starting up).

5. Open CCleaner.

- Go to Options-> Advanced: Uncheck "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours"

- Go to Options>CustomFolders>Add Folder>Navigate to these folders (click on bold file once and hit OK) :
* C:\Windows\Temp
* C:\Windows\Prefetch
* C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Profile>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\ (This will delete all your cached internet content including cookies.)
* C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Profile>\Local Settings\Temp
* C:\Documents and Settings\<any other user's Profile>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
* C:\Documents and Settings\<Any other user's Profile>\Local Settings\Temp
* C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Profile>\Cookies
* C:\Documents and Settings\<Any other users Profile>\Cookies
Hit OK
In left pane, scroll down to "Advanced, Custom Folders", put a check in Custom Folders

- Click on Run Cleaner

It may take a while for the program to perform its cleaning, so be patient. Close the program when it has finished.

6. Run Norton, ewido, and MS Antispyware beta consecutively; have the programs fix all malicious items they find.

When ewido finds the first malicious object on your system, it will ask you if it should clean it. When it asks this, put a checkmark in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections", then choose clean and click OK.
Save the log file that ewido will create after it finishes scanning; you'll be including that log in your next post here.

7. Open Windows Explorer, and in the Folder Options->View settings under the Tools menu, select "show hidden files and folders", and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extentions for known file types".

- Search for the following files and delete them if found:

C:\WINNT\system32\emjiawun.dll
C:\Documents and Settings\Steve Haligowski\Application Data\rcrh.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\Steve Haligowski\Application Data\atsc.exe
C:\WINNT\system32\??plorer.exe
C:\Program Files\amra\tarl.exe

- Delete the entire C:\Program Files\Windows TaskAd folder.

8. Empty your Recycle Bin, reboot normally, run HijackThis again, and post the new log. Also post the log that ewido generated.

Hey DMR Thanks for the reply. I couldnt download Microsoft ANti-Spyware. It seems that there was a problem with the product key. I got this computer from a friend so it seems I have to take some necessary steps to validate the key. I will reply after I buy the correct software from the store. Thank you.

...so it seems I have to take some necessary steps to validate the key.

Yes, that would be the best thing to do. Microsoft is getting pretty agressive about "piracy", so there are an increasing number of resources (Windows updates and other product downloads) that you can't get from them without validating your copy of XP first. Also, our forum rules prohibit us from helping members who are are running an illegit version of Windows, so....
