My son's PC is infected with viruses, I am trying to help fix it.
It hangs up while trying to boot it up in safe mode.
I tried to sign on as the administrator, it asked for a password, I tried to enter the password and nothing happens, the cursor does not move with my keystrokes.
Where do I go from here, how can I get into the PC to download and ruun hijackthis ??

here is an update, after 15 minutes after booting up the Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition screen came up.
It keeps flashing and shifting to different positions on the monitor.
I think it needs some serious help

It might just be time to do a complete overhaul of your system and reinstall windows.
