Hi all I think I have something nasty. I might guess a trojan but I don't really know enough to say for sure, although I've done my best to research as best I can (which I've added below). I hope someone here can help me.
First my PC
it's a Dell desktop running Windows XP home ed service pack 2 with NOD32 as antivirus and the windows xp firewall
The problem started when NOD 32 internet monitor flashed up the following warning:
Threat detected
alert details
file:
http://dinet.info/n/us48/n.exe
Threat:
a variant of win32/adware.SpySheriff application
Comment:
The object contains a threat to your computer
I had the option to terminate and did so.
a few minutes later I got an alert from NOD 32 file system monitor pointing to
c:\documents and settings\Phil\adgzqeje.exe
This file was quarantined.
This cycle now repeats every time I connect to the internet, first highlighting http://dinet.info/n/us48/n.exe, then a few minutes later c:\documents and settings\Phil\adgzqeje.exe, although the filename changes each time.
I've scanned with adaware, spybot s+d and trojanhunter and they are now saying I'm clean but the problem persists. NOD 32 also does not pick up anything with its on demand scanner, just its internet monitor and file system monitor as above.
I've run hijack this and got the following log:

I've searched for all the O4 items on http://www.castlecops.com/StartupList.html and one that seemed dodgey was gwiz:
Nt System Protocol
ntsystem.exe
Added by the Win32.Rbot.DSB TROJAN! Note: This worm\trojan is located in C:\Windows\System (Win9x/Me), C:\%WINDIR%\System32 (XP/WinNT/2K) Has also used a random name such as gwiz
I checked the system32 directory and found a file called ntsystem.exe that was created on the same day as the problem started.
If anyone can give me any advice on where I go now I'd much appreciate it. If this is the RBot trojan then how can I get rid of it if my virus and trojan scans say I'm clean? Is it just a case of fixing the entry in Hijack this and deleting the ntsystem.exe file? If not has anyone got any other advice?
Sorry for the long post
cheers
Phil
