This all started before I discovered the true joy of FireFox. I downloaded a program to add tabs to IE6. It was foxie. www.getfoxie.com - Knowledge base is always down. No way to contact them. It came with a "firewall" that was actually spyware. Anyway, I uninstalled after learning of all of this. I ran all reccommended virus and spyware programs, and nothing was detected. Everything seemed fine, for a while. Now, I am having many strange things happen. My Zone Alarm was alerting me to my Logitech Service Module (and I do have the cam) trying to communicate with all kinds of programs, constantly. That is a widely known disguise name for a virus, especially if located in system or system32 directories. Well, mine was only where it was supposed to be, but still, I quaranteed, stopped, and deleted it. BTW Almost everytime an alert about LVPrcSRV came up, I got an LSA Shell export version alert from Zone Alarm. Another one!? Well, after I got sick of getting locked up during boot because of the alerts that would hang the machine before I could click on them, I uninstalled Windows Defender. Thankfully, the MsPsEng.exe (or whatever they were) alerts which made my system hang have stopped. But I got a couple of creepy ones after that. Alerts coming from Zone alarm ABOUT zone alarm.. and one about explorer I think - both with some long string for a program name, including event=0, sub-event=1 """."""""" and juk like that. Anyways, my computer is running strangely now - slow at boot, and I'm not sure what else. I have all sorts of anti-spy/virus junk on my computer, so I figured the first thing I should do is post my Hijack This log, and take it from there, if I can figure that out. I haven't done it before, but it seems to be common practice in this forom. Back in a few... I hope!
Thanks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ok, I hope this is the right kind of log. I started HJijack This, and clicked the button for scan system and save log. This is just from the first screen, where there's an option to start the progrm. So please let me know if I need to do more to get the correct type of log. Anyway, here's what I got.

Hmm the log is clean the only suspicious thing is that there are like 12 yahoo widget processes running. Well lets do an AVG scan then.
Please download and install ewido anti-spyware tool(Now called AVG)
- Close all other Applications Select language click Ok
- Click I Agree
- Click next
- Click Install
- Click Finish
- Wait Ewido will open main screen automatically.
- Wait again a few minutes and Ewido Should Auto update itself. If it doesn't click update at top of screen.
- This in very important to get updates
- When updating has finished. Close Ewido.
If you have an "always on" connection to the internet, physically disconnect that connection until you are finished with Safe Mode and have rebooted back into normal mode.
- Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
- Restart your computer
- After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
- Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear use arrow up to highlight
- Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode hit enter.
- For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site: HERE
You MUST manage to get into Safe Mode for the fix to work.
Make sure to close all open windows/programs/folders. Have nothing else open while ewido performs its scan!
- Open Ewido
- Click on scanner top of Ewido sceen
- Click on Settings
- Under How to Act click on Recommended Action choose Quarantine
- Under How to scan all boxes should be selected
- Under Possibly unwanted software all boxes should be selected
- On right side under Reports: click on Automatically generate report after every scan.
- Under What to scan select scan every file
- Click On scan Tab
- Click on Complete system scan
- Let the program scan the machine It can take awhile give it time.
- When scan has finished At bottom of screen click Apply all Actions
- Click Save report
- Click Save Report as (Save as window's screen should pop up.)
- Click desktop
- Click Save
- Exit ewido
Reboot back to normal mode
Now post the AVG log along with a new HJT log. Tell me if your still having problems.
The Yahoo widgets are running on purpose. I will get started with AVG and post back. Thanks for your help. So the C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe is ok? It's not the sasser virus? I know windows needs this file, but I'm not sure for what.
Most likely not but you can do an online virus scan here. There are alot of viruses that use the same name but they are usually located in different directories then the real ones. Yours is in the correct directory so i wouldn't worry.

and I just scanned C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe at the online scanner you gave me, it turned out clear. So what do you think? Do I look ok?
THanks for your expertise and time.
Well your logs clean still and it looks like AVG cleaned out a few things you got from bearshear. Are you still having problems? If not you can mark this thread as solved by clicking the link at the top of the page. And i got no rep so that would be nice.
Will do, thanks a bunch
