I have XP and antivir personal edition antivirus software.

I have run a full scan in safe mode, no problems. the desktop icons and start menu disappear and when you go into task manager, explorer.exe is not there. Type it in "new task" in Task manager and it returns temporarily.

I have tried to find the file explorer.exe via "search" but it kicks out. Previous restore points are also gone.

Must be a virus?

Found virtumonde virus with spybot maybe the reason
