HP DV6045NR (dv6000)
XP SP3 version 2002

Just wiped my drive yesterday and installed sp3. Been loading all the drivers and such and can't seem to get my sound working. I downloaded and installed Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio (sp33867).

My quick launch buttons also do not function.

In device manager PCI Device has a yellow question mark, and states the drivers for this device are not installed.

this is usually the mother board chipset drivers ,find them on motherboard disk or mb's makers web site

I've done a google search and downloaded every possible driver that I could find for audio.

After installing and restarting I still have the same issue. I even got so fed up I downloaded an purchased 'Driver Detective' and had alot of drivers that needed updating. After updating all that was left as an issue was the yellow questionmark STILL on the PCI Device.

Must somehow get a driver for it.

the best way to get a driver that I have found is...
(I am presuming that you are running a PCI sound card?)
- read the whole post to get all the info first.

1.Get the model number for your sound card

2. go to www.driverdownload.com and go thru the registration process, including the free offer... (if you look closely at the bottom you can continue without the offer) and then search your device through them.

sound card details:
do you have the box + manual etc with a model number?

or

belarc advisor from www.majorgeeks.com
(google "freeware device identifier" for more options)


or (less recommended)
open the box, pull it out and write them down off the card.
I suggest pulling the plug out, grounding yourself, and using an antistatic device if following this method.
