My son some how activated a passowrd on our home computer. We had no way to log on and were forced to reinstall windows. After formatting the drive, and attempting to reinstaller windows xp i recieve the a pop that states i need a file "D:\I386\asms" It also states this should be found on sedrvice pack 1. I put in that disk and it does not work. I tried copying it on to a floppy and running it that way and it does not work.
Now when i turn the computer off and back on it just goes to this same pop up. What do i do? i upgaded from windows 98 to xp. Do i need to reload 98 then xp? If so how do i stop xp from loading to the point where i get the pop up? PLEASE REPLY
