I have word 2003. I can't use the font type or size. I also can't change ruler unit. Basically I can't do any editing.

there must be some problem with MSWORD. you must reinstal it and i hope it wil help you out :)

Hey, I solved my own problem. the steps are:
IF RULER WON’T CHANGE UNITS
1. Hold “Alt” key and press F11
2. Press Ctrl + G
3. In the box below type: options.usecharacterunit=false
Hit enter, then close

I beleive the thread starter fixed his own problem so there is no need to reinstall Msword...
