my comp(mobo=915PBL, running XP pro) suddenly rebooted (out of the blue)....and now, while rebooting, it gives me a message "primary slave S.M.A.R.T. command failed, press F4 to continue"....I do that and it reboots, and gives the same error message. don't see an option to turn off S.M.A.R.T. in BIOS. trying to start in safe mode gives the same error. when I change BIOS to boot from CD instead, hoping to boot from the XP CD....same error. any assistance would be greatly appreciated. thanks much.

What device is connected as the Primary Slave?
What is the make and version of the BIOS? There may be an option to disable SMART hidden in an "advanced" setup page or somesuch.
