I am a NOVICE, is there a FREE program to kill this thing? Can I run my computer till then?

SpyBot: Search & Destroy
Spyware Terminator [Includes real-time protection]
Ad-Aware (Free)
Hopefully one of those programs will do the trick. Don't forget to update them after installing/before scanning ;)
