Long time no post.
I am needing help with a computer that I have... obviously.

The computer has not been turned on in a while because...

It blue screens after the Windows logo comes up.

I can't go into any option... safe mode, safe mode with networking.. last knows good configuration... Nothing
Every time, there is a blue screen that says that if I installed new software, then uninstall it...

TO make matters worse, I don't have my original disks that came with it.
Anyone have any ideas on how to correct this problem?

Been a long time since I was here last!
But it is always great to come back to a good forum like this.

Anyways, on to the situation at hand:

Computer: Compaq Evo D5
OS: Win XP with Novell (Pain, I know)

The comptuer has been working fine up to this point.
When you put in your username and PW, the computer will start to get on the network, then restart.

Any ideas?

Let me give a bit of background on this one.
I ordered an external hard drive from newegg.com and have had it replaced a few times.

Eventually the hard drive gave out (i.e. thrown across the room) and I had to get a new one.
I went out and got a new hard drive, just the external. I used the same case as the first hard drive.

My question is:

Will the hard drive stop working if the fan on the board stops working?

I think I already know the answer, but I just want to make sure before I go and buy a new case.

I am a college graduate.. a 2 year college graduate at that.
I went, got my AAS in Networking. I was working at McDonalds.. I had a school principal come and pick me up from there. Now I work at a Middle school.

The only thing is... I know that I should be making more than 13K a year. I was making that at Micky D's

I have been in this job 3 years now and I want to move on.
I have recently went BACK to ITT and decided to persue a career in multimedia.

It isn't exactly easy to find a job when everyone wants people with A+ certs... I just don't have the money on hand to do that.

I have looked in papers for jobs, been to careerbuilder, monster, dice.. etc.
I Have looked to my career counsilor at school... nothing.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do?

Here is the problem:

About 2 months ago, I bought a 200GB external HD from NewEgg.com

Everything was peachy-keen until today.

The thing will turn on, but my computer will not recognize it.
When I turn it on, it beeps.. not just one or two.. but it is a sequence, like something you would hear out of a video game.

I have tried switching the USB ports, nothing
I have tried letting it power down for several minutes then turning it back on... nothing.

Is it just me, or does it sound like the thing is corrupt?

Any ideas?

Problem: When the teacher logs in, there is an error message:

Rtvscan.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created.

Any ideas as to what might be causing it and what might be a solution?

Well, here is the prob.
We have a COW (Computers on Wheels) unit and last year we only had 18 computers. THis year, we have 25. Now, my problem is that some of them will not connect while others can.

Roughly about 8-9 can not connect and I Have to hook them up to a hub to connect to anything!

They are all Dell. I know that dell has a bad wireless rating, but you know... school districts only want what is cheap, not what they need.

Any ideas?

iPod and phone mix together to create... a phone that costs to doggone much and will break in the first week. Sounds like something that you toss into the vending machine game.
But, yeah, I agree with jwenting, I would not buy it.

I have had experience with AOHell... er.. I mean AOL. I didn't like the service. Plus, it was SOOOOOO SLOOOOOWWW... but then again, that is how dial-up is. we still can't get broadband out here, but we can get wireless. That is what we use now.
Plus, I have done service on people's computers that have AOHell and they have the same issues... not connecting, too slow, bad customer service.
Plus, AOHell is a lot like Microsoft.... they don't want to take over the ENTIRE world, they just want your half with theirs.

Honestly, I do not see why she is doing this. Yes, her son was killed. But it was HIS CHOICE to enter into the forces and he knew what he was getting himself into. The only thing I see this as is a) a publicity factor b0 a way to show the American public that someone has too much time on their hands.

I have been saving teachers things on it and I went to access it, and it says that it needs to be formated. I know that if I do that, I will loose everything.

Well, after kicking myself in the butt for several hours, I decided that I should just format the thing and get it over it. But I can't format it!

That is something that I don't get.

well, out here in BFE, we have either Dial-up or Satelite. Nothing else. Just that. Not enough money to have DSL put out here.
