Just to add a little to Jorge with whom I totally agree having set up several networks in schools with serious hackers!,! I fully endorse all the above , without a central well protected server it is impossible to set up a safe network that will give you the protection you need.
Best of luck

if you are using the same password for both groups then you could change one of them and then it will only allow logon when you give that password (turn off auto passwpord select)

most files have attributes (eg read only, hidden etc) right click on the file in the usb stick and go to properties and one of the attributes is 'last accessed date' that will tell you when the file was last used (copied or altered, / accessed)

I agree it looks like hardware, could be video card, memory or the screen. All of these can be checked by swapping for known good ones.
Whilst it is unlikely to be the swap file but it could be that the hard disk has a space that is not recognised and it would be worth running chkdsk or similiar to test the hard disk for errors;

have you used any other sound system like skype? Sometimes programs hog the sound system and do not return it to windows OS for other sound use. a reboot normally clears this but you may need to select your sound input device in the sound system.

I think this may be past its sell by date!!

you could also uninstal the game and then restore the computer to a time (using the restore facility) when it was working. that will replace the drivers.

I have gone from XP to win 7 32 bit and all worked reasonably well. I then took the plunge and went 64 bit and have never looked back. It is stable fast, does what I want it to do but be warned there are some difficulties with finding 64 bit drivers for some pieces of hardware and software and you will spend quite a bit of time early on updating such things as flash player, adobe, etrc etc; and certainly some programs will have to be run in 'compatability' mode. However it is a full format and installatiojn and theer is a lot of info at Microsoft website.

I had a toshiba with similiar problem. It was the voltage regulator on the motherboard that refused to work and thus the battery was not charged. However by inserting a new battery and using the mains lead plgged in and switched on it now works all the time BUT ON MAINS ONLY! If I remove th battery it stops!

May not help but worth a try!

It would seem to me to be a sign of overheating somewhere. letting it cool in hte turn off enables the automatic cutout or electronic to reset. I suspect the ,video cardf... open the box and check that all the fans and motherboard are clear of dust, use a light vacuum cleaner (small ) or a paintbrush to remove any dust;
If that does not do the trick then it could well be the monitor and the best way to check that is to borrow a working one from a friend or try yours on another computer and see what results;
If neither of these thn it could be motherboard but that needs sophisticated gear to diagnose and the repair shop is the place.

certainly it sounds to me as though the boot sector on the hard disk is failing via grub. Windows uses its own boot called MBR (master boot record). and MBR wont really boot anything other than windows! Hence the windows repair will only put back the MBR and only give you windows. Grub (but ,I think you need to reinstall as above) is good for multiple booting but there are other booting software and it may be worth looking at some of these as they are designed to do multiple OS booting.
Cetrainly use something like partion manager to check that the primary partition is actually bootable.

I had similiar prob with a trial office on a new comp and wanted to use 2003 which I had. I had to totally uninstall the triial version (and do some removing by hand as well with care) before the 'old' activated legitimate 2003 version would work. Although MS says the two can exist together my experience was one at a time!

sometimes there is an installation log file that lists all the files installed so you can searchand delete but with DLL files be carefull as sometimes they are used by other programs which need them.
