Is there someone on here that can recommend someone to help us migrate over to Magento?

Michelle

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

I've just been told about CS-Cart.

Anyone have any dealings with them?

Michelle

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

We needed a SC that allows us to change the banner, address, URLs, etc. for each site & have it all under one roof. Magento was the only one that allowed for that.

Michelle

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

Hi there,

Can I get their contact info pls.

Thanks

Michelle

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

Yes, we finally settled on Magento, it's just taking longer than anticipated to get it set up, tested, tweaked, etc.

Thanks

Hi there,

Ok, so memory is fine & everything seems to be working a bit better now, no more hanging of the My computer window & although Fx is still sluggish when I click on a window once the computer has been inactive for a few minutes, it was better than b4.

What's still happening though is that again, every time I reboot, I have to answer security questions on sites I frequent every day, input my postal code into the TV Guide site b/c it's not remembering it, so the cookies or whatever remembers that I'm using the same computer isn't working even though I changed it a while ago.

Hope you are having a great New Years Even Judy

Thanks & TTYL

Michelle

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

Just one thing b4 I mark it, hopefully over the next few days I'm going to try & run the Mem test (since I have to close everything) & I don't know how to deal with BIOS setting by myself, so I'll let you know if anything crops up.

Thanks

Michelle

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

Ok, so I finally rebooted (you know how long it takes me to do that LOL) & believe it or no, when I go to My computer now, it opens up real fast, so that's great, BUT, that problem was fixed b4 I changed the virtual memory, so I'm wondering what was fixed?

I tend to like knowing what was wrong in the first place, but clearly I don't think we are going to get the answer to that.

I think since I rebooted the Fx hanging issue is solved, but since I just rebooted yesterday I don't know yet. Wow, I'm soooo happy.

Thank you soooo much Judy. Merry Christmas & a VERY Happy New Year.

Michelle

Sorry for the delay.

Thanks for the nudge :)

Ok, does that # go in the initial size or the max size fields or both?

I didn't really understand what you said above other than the # you gave me.

Thanks

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

Ok, I think we finally figured it out. Thank you :)

Fx must have changed something in one of their new versions, so in the privacy tab it didn't look like those options were available, but they were, they were just hidden under a different drop down menu.

I didn't realize it was deleting cookies every single time I closed Fx LOL

What about my virtual memory, was that # ok?

Thanks Judy :)

Michelle

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

No, you aren't understanding me. I don't expect it to remember my security answer, I expect it to know that my computer is still my computer & I'm not logging in from a different computer.

Never mind, that's ok & yes, of course that's how my Fx is set up.

Thanks

Michelle

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

B/c I don't want to have to pay for it if I don't have to.

Michelle :)

Why do you need to test it yourself if the computer shop is going to do it?
I have a disk which came with my computer containing Memtest and that will test the hard drive so I have never used any online testing like that which would be very comprehensive.

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

It's hard for me to read what you wrote b/c of my bad eye, but I don't think you are understanding me.

I'm not saying I expect the bank to remember my p/w, I'm saying it's asking me the sercurity question b/c it thinks I've changed computers, so that means the IP address is being changed (I think).

I'm also saying that when I change the p/w (this is on non bank types sites like my own) in Fx it doesn't change it, it keeps reverting back to the p/w that isn't correct.

Hope I'm clearer now.

Thanks

Michelle

This has to do likely with the way cookies are saved on the computer. If you empty them all then all of these types of cookies...the ones which remember your user name and password on specific sites will also be deleted. There are also some sites, like banks and such, which are set up to NOT allow these to be saved for security reasons. You will always have to sign in at these sites, no matter what. In Firefox you have to tell it to SAVE the password you put in there if it is different from the original one you saved. I don't believe if you have a different password for each site that it will save them all.

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

Oops, didn't see this until just now.

Ok, I think this is what you want...

Total Paging File: 4092 MB

Is that right?

Thanks

Mich

Sorry Michelle, realized that you probably meant didn't know how to find virtual memory.
Here is how:
On Windows XP, look in Control Panel: System, Advanced, Performance, Settings, Advanced, Virtual Memory.
Here is an explanation of Virtual Memory which is fairly simplified and easier to understand:

General recommendations would be for machines running your 2GB would be set swap space to be about twice RAM or perhaps less say 1 and 1/2 times the amount of RAM installed.

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

The computer shop I just called said they would be willing to test the memory that's already there which is a good idea.

Do you know of any sites that test the current memory & maybe the HD for bad sectors?

Thanks

Michelle

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

I finally remembered what else the computer is doing that concerns me:

1. I think it's changing my cookies or IP address or something, b/c I'll go onto a site where I have to log in, & it will ask me my security question as if I'm not using the same computer I was using last time.

This has happened several times on 2 different sites. I keep answering the question, then the next time I log in it asks again.

2. Same thing happens with Fx. I thought it was just a Fx issue, but I have a strong feeling it's not.

I have a user name & p/w saved in my p/w area in Fx & it keeps changing back to another p/w. Every time I copy & paste in the correct one & Fx saves the correct one b/c it gives me the "change" button to click on, then every time I go back to the site once I've rebooted, it has the wrong p/w in it & I have to do it all over again.

Before I tied to find the entry in the p/w area to delete it, but Fx doesn't show all the entries properly, so I couldn't find it.

One time I did delete one entry I thought it was it, but it didn't help, same problem over & over again.

Thanks

Hi Judy,

Sorry for the delay. I'm still sick, but I see you deleted my other thread.

Ok, my assistant helped me & we got the new drivers installed & it got rid of that popup box that told me there was a graphic card error, so that's great.

Unfortunately my computer is still causing problems & I really don't think it has anything to do with memory even though I will be getting another 2 MB soon.

I barely have anything open & I'm still having strange things happen like my main TB window just closed on it's own.

Similar things like that.

Thanks for all your help.

OMG, pls. tell me I didn't screw up.

The zip file I DLed was HUGE. I didn't look thru ALL the files there are sooo many of them, I just clicked on the first .exe I found (ATICIMUN.exe) & it was meant to uninstall everything, so I have no idea if I was supposed to do that or what :(

I tried to click on some of the other .exe files, but they gave me errors. HELP!!!

I haven't rebooted yet so the changes haven't taken place, but I don't know what to do now.

Michelle

1. Ok, I unchecked it.
2. The list of drivers, & when I went to go do a search, they don't have ASUS Extreme (only Innovations) & their year goes upto 2008, not 2009, so can you just shoot me the URL of where that new driver is so I can DL it. Thank you
3. That still doesn't explain why I keep getting this error telling me the graphics isn't available. Every time I reboot I get that popup.
4. Here's the details on the CIS Benchmark Score....

Hi there,

Ok, I'm confused as to what I should DL from this list. Can you tell?

Ok

Thank you

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

Hmm, no, I don't think that's what the issue is.

The slowing down of the computer ONLY happens when I step away from the computer (even if it's for 2 secs), come back & click on Fx.

Or, when I open up the my computer window. Once that window loads, it's very fast & I don't hear the HD going nuts during this time.

There are times when I hear it running & I don't know what it is, but it's not when I'm locked.

If it was a problem with really large files, it would do it on everything from TB to Word, to a heavy Excel file I usually have open, & those never cause problems.

In the next week or so I'll try to find memory over here & take my CPU over & get them to put it in & Ill price check w/ the site you gave me.

Thanks

Mich

P.S. Suddenly my computer is allowing me to drag & drop files again.

Before it wouldn't do anything, even when I cut them, it would look cut, I'd go to the folder to paste & the paste was greyed out & the files would be back where they used to be.

You know I'm wondering if that Advanced System Care Iobit software was working. Wasn't it supposed to compress drives as well?

B/c this is taking a really long time. Maybe that's normal, I don't know.

Mich

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

I have to go eat in a minute as I'm dying here. I will get the other 2 things done afterwards b/c my computer is freaking out since I decided to do a disk cleanup & compress each drive LOL

I agree I probably need more memory, but that clearly isn't the problem with things hanging b/c remember I said that happens even after I reboot when I don't have Fx or TB or Word/Excel open.

Also, someone told me a long time ago that having more than 1 GB of memory does nothing to speed up the computer. I can't remember his exact words, but he was saying to deal with the virtual memory settings or something (can't remember now).

Did things change with computers? Does having more than 1 GB allow the computer to use all of the memory?

I will have to find someone to walk me thru on the phone how to install it, b/c I'm not going to spend $50-75 just to install one stick.

I've never done it b4, but I've seen it done & I know it's fairly simple, I just don't know how many slots I have left & of course there's no way to tell other than opening the case, right?

Btw, I still need the instructions on unchecking programs to start when the computer is rebooted. You sent me something days ago, but it didn't work for me.

Also, one of the reasons …

Re: firewall - but I Had a problem with it conflicting w/ other software a few years back.

Don't ask me what it conflicted with, I don't remember. That guy told me that all he uses is his router's firewall, so I thought it was fine.

Which firewall do you recommend?

Ok, stats of my HDs:

1. C - 41.3 GB Free, 17.7 Used
2. D - 50.9 Free, 6.14 GB Used
3. E - 58 GB Free, 12.0 Used

So as you can see, it's not the HD space.

Thanks

Ok, here's what I've done...

1. uninstalled the CNET Tech Tracker
2. Searched for Open Candy & deleted that.
3. Searched for Xobni & found this... XOBNISERVICEINSTALLER.EXE-2AE27AD0.pf (should I delete that?)

Found my Word doc (took me forever) that listed all of the drivers we had to install when we reformatted 1.5 yrs. ago. I have so much that always needs to be reinstalled, that I finally started a Word doc to keep track.

My computer is just a clone, no brand name & so it may have come with a reinstall disk, but I just checked, & I can't find anything in my box of CDs :( I found the drivers for the Asus, but I assume they are old hence us DLing them from the net.

Here are the notes that were in the Word doc...

It was an ASUS EAX300 Series, the download we got was from here:

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=EAX300%20Series

to get the networking to work, we installed the nforce drivers for the motherboard: http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_nf4_winxp32_8.26_11.09.html

4. When I went to look for the name of the graphics card (see below), first it only had 2 names there, not 3 & second, it looks slightly different than what I pulled from the word doc. I thought maybe it was a typo, but even the URL has the letter "E" in it.

ASUS AX300 Series
ASUS AX300 Series Secondary

Hi there,

Oh geeze, I never got an e-mail notifying me that you responded. Hmm.

Thank you so much Judy, I really appreciate all your help & I have to clarify that I wasn't doubting you, I was just telling you I had no idea how it got there & thought maybe you could enlighten me on that.

It actually scared me, b/c I've been wondering if someone has access to my computer (remotely) & thought maybe this is what's happening.

I'm going to read what you said now & do that, b/c now my computer isn't even allowing me to move files from one folder to another :( Geeze.

Thanks

I got the name wrong is all. It was the same add-on for Fx.

And I DIDN'T install Xobni. I told you that already.

As for clicktale, yes, I told them about Fx finding their site & they worked really hard to get the warning removed.

You sound like you are in a very bad mood. Please don't take it out on me. I'm not stupid.

MBW didn't find anything.

The search found Open Candy in document settings/user name/application. Should I just delete it from there?

If you mean this web site http://www.clicktale.com/ why would they be shocked or concerned, their web site gets a favorable rating.

P.S. I uninstalled the Xobni, but CAN'T find the Open Candy in there, is there another name for it?

Ok, I FINALLY found the program I installed the other day, it's called CNET Tech Tracker.

I saw that Xobni & didn't know what that was either although it looks interesting, but I don't use Outlook anymore, so why would I install it?

The CBS thing, I would remember if I went to the network's website, so I didn't DL that either. Geeze.

Yeh I had webtrust installed b4 I deleted my bloody profile. It's not always accurate I just want you to know.

Click Tale got on there & they have a great program. I told them about it & they were shocked.

I reinstalled it.

k, will do MBA in a moment.

Thanks :)

Ok, first off, I NEVER installed this candy software. I don't even remember the site, so how in the world did it get installed :( I'm trying to think if I installed something new & it was under a different name or what.

What site should I be using to investigate a software's reputation b4 DLing it?

The only new software I installed recently was a program that is supposed to tell me when what I have on my computer is an old version & then it gets me to install the new version.

I figured it would help me remember to actually use software that I forget is there.

BUT, I can't find it on my taskbar anymore (since we used that program that changed a lot of my settings) & I don't remember what it's called.

I won't install anything new. I didn't know I couldn't.

Here's the other one it found...

E:\E-mails\SD.dbx JS/Kak worm unable to clean

I deleted the folder & will scan again.

I already use Spyware blaster.

Are you saying I should get the paid versions of the above & MBA?

I stopped using Zone Alarm years ago after it started causing problems with something. Now I just rely upon my router's firewall.

I'm still having problems with being able to access programs on the computer without having to wait for them to open.

My Computer & again Fx when I got to my desk earlier.

Also I keep scanning with ESET, & it keeps finding a new threat each time I scan (in those Outlook e-mails I have). Why isn't it finding them all at once?

Here's the log:

Ok, so here's what we figured out.

1. The e-mails weren't from TB, they were in my old Outlook which I don't use & only have around in case I have to search an old old e-mail, so I just deleted the folders to save time.

2. I rescanned with ESET & it found a new threat & deleted it, but I'm not sure if the path I'm seeing is the correct path or what since it's in program files.

It didn't find the other 3 threats, so that's great :)

Do I need to send you another HJT log?

Here's the ESET one...

C:\Program Files\FileChecker\filechecker.exe probably a variant of Win32/Genetik trojan cleaned by deleting - quarantined

Thanks Judy, I'm getting happier now that stuff is being found & removed.

Would still like to know which anti virus program I should be using if bloody Anti Vir isn't working.

Michelle :)

Hi Judy,

Thank you :) I finally have your name.

Ok, I don't see where to get a report. Are you wanting me to take a screenshot & paste it into paint?

Also, which anti virus program do you think is the best? I see many that found threats while of course Anti Vir didn't. :(

Nope, both in regular & safe mode it found nothing <sigh>

k, figured it out, it's scanning now.

Any chance you know how to tell Anti vir to scan only one drive?

I doubt it's going to find it b/c it scans every day & it hasn't found it. I hate it when Anti Vir doesn't find these things. One has to trust their anti virus program.

ep2002 36 Posting Pro in Training

<sigh>

Ok, yes I still had the Defrag one on there b/c I never remember to defrag & I loved the fact that the program would do it for me.

Do you know of any other program that does that?

I removed it.

Ok, I don't consider E to be an external drive. It's just a partition of C, but yes, you are correct, it doesn't have the OS on it, only C can have that.

I'll run Anti Vir & see what happens.

God getting rid of the entire folder I don't know what to do :( I can't, I have thousands of e-mails that I need to access. I run a biz, these aren't personal e-mails, although I see one folder I can delete (the poly one).

Thanks

As for your other questions no, I don't use another HD, but I do have Carbonite, but that's a web based backup program, so I figured that doesn't count.

As for that folder, that's where I store all my e-mail.

I can find the e-mails in question if I knew their subject line & who they are from.

Thanks

Michelle
