I have a PC at the office, which was by default a Windows 8 Pro OEM licensed one (not 8.1), but for some unknown reasons, it was downgraded to Windows 7 Pro, which is again showing "OEM" in the activation Product ID.

I would like to format and perform a clean install of Windows 10 Pro (v. 1803) on the PC, and use the existing Windows 8 Pro OEM key to activate it after install.

I would like to get a second opinion before doing so, knowing that the PC did not receive any of the Windows 10 free upgrades etc. in the past?

Tried the linux option as well, but still micro sd was not detected at all in the adapter. Looks like it's dead for sure now, no way to recover anything... :(

I've been facing this issue since today, whereby my TwinMOS Micro SD HC Card is not being detected by my Samsung phone, and when placed in the adapter and inserted on PC, again the latter is not detecting it at all, although in the Device Manager I can see my adapter being recognised.

I've tried Google, but the supposed methods shown, like using EaseUS Recovery software and others are not working in my case as am not able to see the card as a USB drive.

Any other methods to deal with this would be most welcome, as I have all photos and other important files on the Micro SD Card.

Found a tool as well, on the following link: WinUSB, which helped in creating a single installation file from 2 ISO to USB drive.

Still looking for one which can allow direct ISO creation and burn to DVD-R or DL...

Need some suggestions on how to combine 2 Windows 7 ISO files (one is x86 and other is x64), into one single bootable ISO file which can then be burnt on a DVD-R or Dual Layer DVD, and even on USB afterwards.

Problem seems to have been solved, as PC is running properly

rproffitt, did as you suggested, but first went for the "paper-clip" test with the psu. its fan started to run as soon as I switched the power on. Decided to connect only motherboard and psu, and switched on fine. Plugged all my internal hardware again, and the PC started properly.
So am still unsure on what caused this issue in the first place... Will keep a watch for a few more days...

Am currently facing a problem with my home PC, whereby upon switching on, all the lights switch on normally (HDD, DVD-drives, PSU), then just seconds later, it switches off by itself, and again some seconds later, starts to switch on by itself, but again goes off (in a loop). No beep sound whatsoever.

Any one can help troubleshoot this issue?

I have a local domain server, managed via a Windows Server 2003 R2 SE machine, and would like to be able to broadcast messages as an administrator to all client PCs which are connected to the domain, whereby the message will just pop-up on the users' screens, and either an OK button appearing or it automatically times out. e.g. 60 seconds, and closes by itself.

However, in doing so, no additional software should be installed on the client PCs to receive the broadcast, as the internal policy is to strictly prevent "chat-communication" between users using third-party software.

Any way of going ahead to implement this?

I have a Windows 10 Pro (v.1511 - x64) PC, whereby in the "Update & Security" window it shows that updates are available, for example "Definition update for Windows Defender", "Security update for ASP.NET..." and so on, but it does not download the update at any point in time. The power options have been changed to make the PC stay awake 24/24.

Any fix for this issue?

This folder may be part of an update installed by Windows or a software like .NET framework which creates this folder to create a temporary access for it's extracted files used during installation.

Best is to set it as "Hidden" and leave it alone.

If you really want to delete it, then I leave the after-effects for you to ponder on, but you can install and use the software "Unlocker" (Google it to get the download link as well) and proceed with deleting the folder (you can use youtube here to see how to use it properly).

I have a USB flash drive which was working properly for months, but today, when inserted into a workstation, it is being opened in read-only mode, whereby I can read and execute files on it, but not add anything to it or modify a document from it.

Tried to format it but got a surprise as this operation failed as well due to the read-only mode.

The flash drive does not have any physical switch to change it to read-only mode and back to writeable-mode.

How can I solve this issue?

@rproffitt - The IP range of the WiFi connection is completely different from that of the LAN one. In fact, the WiFi is open to public, so anyone can just switch on WiFi on a mobile phone and get access.

I have a scenario as such. 1 router connected behind a proxy used to connect PC with LAN devices. Proxy provides limited access to websites on the net. There is a 2nd router, Wifi only, which is not connected to any proxy, thus allowing open connection to the web.
I would like to use my ethernet connection (LAN cable) to access the LAN devices, while using a USB WiFi device on the same PC to simultaneously be able to use the open network.
Is this possible on a PC running Windows 10?
If yes, what are the steps to configure such connections?

Ya NTVDM which provides a virtualized 16-bit environment for those apps needing it. Unfortunately, only 64-bit OS are affected, and they are the ones which are mostly in use in work places these days. So to basically run a 32-bit OS on a machine having 8-cores and 8GB RAM would be a waste of resources, but will have to eventually run the 32-bit in a VM to get the application running. Don't talk about upgrading to a newer Oracle version, else the big bosses will get heart attacks. LOL!

I've deployed a 32-bit Windows 8.1 on VirtualBox on Windows 10, yet when I am logging in on the VM, a few seconds after the desktop appears, it starts flickering like a looping refresh, and I am unable to see any icons.
Any fix for this, without having to reinstall the whole thing again?

I eventually found out the root of the problem. I was using a 64-bit OS, which does not have the NTVMD feature, while same installation done on a Windows 10 32-bit saw the OS automatically download and enable the NTVDM feature, which then proceeded with completing the installation of the Developer 2000 R2.1 setup. After googling, I found that 64-bit OS do not support this NTVDM feature at all. A pity Microsoft overlooked a feature like this on the 64-bit platforms.

I've recently upgraded a Windows 8.1 Pro (OEM) to Windows 10 using the Media Creation tool since I was not getting the GWX icon. Activation has been successful from the OEM key. However, there were some registry issues from the Win 8.1 install itself, and these are still present despite the upgrade, and thus I would like to know whether if I format and clean install Windows 10 directly on the PC, will I be able to activate automatically again, or do I need to purchase a Win 10 key?

I have to install Oracle Developer 2000 R2.1 on a Windows 8.1 (x64) machine to run an application developed by a third party developer, but my installation keeps on crashing. Tried running in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode still same result.

The error is as follows:
"D2KQT10.ins(54): 'Statement' expected when ';' found"

And this occurs while executing the following:
"C:\ORANT...\d2kr20qt.exe"

Tried same install on a Windows 7 and a Windows 10 machine, and both installed correctly, except for some warnings on 10, which still completed the install. However on 8.1 it fails completely after displaying the above error message.

Any fix for this pls?

I am getting the following message when trying to boot from a Windows 7 DVD on a PC: "BOOTMGR image is corrupt the system can not boot".
The PC is currently running Windows 8.1 x64, and I tested the drive with another DVD (non-windows), and it opened the contents properly. Any fix/further troubleshooting for this issue, as I need to urgently format the current Windows partition and install a 7 (since the 8.1 on it is not legit, and PC has OEM for 7 Pro)...

I've used MobaXterm (home edition) to connect from Windows for several Ubuntu servers, using SSH of course.

USB keyboard working well. So indeed it's a problem with the matrix itself it seems, and thus a change required...

@Reverend Jim - Tried booting with a linux live cd, still got the same issue with the same keys. Number key 5 however is giving something bizarre on Windows however when typing on notepad, it starts a loop with the full date and time and stops only when I press the "Enter" key.
Will try to test with a usb keyboard and revert back asap.

I am currently facing an issue after upgrading a Windows 7 Pro (OEM Edition) to Windows 10 Pro following updates provided by Microsoft, whereby while checking my activation status, I found the following message:

"Connect to the internet to activate Windows"

I tried to activate it manually from the "Settings" window, but it gave me:

"Windows can't activate right now. Try activating again later. If that doesn't work, contact support. Error code 0xD0000272."

Any other way I can proceed to activate?

rubberman's method looks to work fine and someone outside the forum told me about a tool named clonezilla which i've yet to give a try thou.

Oh so this is the catch here with the supposed "OEM" activation being provided. Thanks for the info. Will move back to 7 in this case and let the updates do the rest.

I've clean-installed a Windows 10 Home on a PC which had Windows 7 Home (with OEM key present), but now am unable to activate the Windows 10 with the OEM key available. I read that Microsoft is now allowing the use of existing OEM keys to activate Win 10, and also I've got the Windows 10 10586 (1511) version, which I validated using the "winver" command after installation. The 1511 ISO was downloaded from Microsoft's website, and not tampered with.

Any help on this issue would be most welcome.

I have a scenario as follows, whereby, I want to install a fresh Windows OS on a PC, install some apps like Firefox, MS Office etc. Then, I would like to create a clone of this physical machine, and either keep this image on a shared folder on a network, or save it on an external HD (usb), and deploy this image to other PCs which need formatting, or on which a new HD has been installed, without any OS present, ex. replaced a bad disk with a new one. For the time being, activation will be done individually on the PCs receiving this image.

1. What is the best tool (paid or free), which can allow me to perform such a deployment?
2. Will I encounter any disk partitioning problems with such a method, for example if I have created an initial image of drive C of 100GB going up to 50GB after installation, and I have a drive C on another PC with say 75GB partition space?
3. Will the apps installed in the image continue to work correctly on a new PC or do I need to reinstall again?

Lol there will be both, but as a test doing the login one with some predefined entries in the DB since it's a first attempt with Codeigniter. Coming back to the "tick validation", what's the best way to proceed with this, given it will also be present in the registration form afterwards to check for existing usernames when the admin will register users...

In fact the registration form will be present, but it will not be the user who will register himself, but an admin. Thus, am using the "tick" method in the login form first so that a user name is validated as well as the password before submission of the login.

It would act like a validator even before the form is submitted, so that the person entering the username or password already knows whether it's correctly entered or not, mostly for the password due to the chars being hidden

I am currently building a login form using HTML/PHP/Codeigniter, and would like to add some visual effects, like for example, if a user enters the username, either a tick or a cross is added beside the field when the user moves to the "password" field for example, and the same applies to the password field also. The username and password are stored in the mysql table "users".

I have a VB.NET project (using Visual Studio 2015 Pro) currently found on my PC, and would like to make it shared across my LAN with others so that they can pull a copy on their own PC and work on it, and push their changes to the project, and thus make it available to all devs concerned. Firstly, I would like to move this project to a "central" machine then proceed with the sharing.
What is the best way/tool available to share such a project freely on a LAN?
What tools would be required for each user to get access to be able to pull/push a copy from their PC using VS 2015?

I need some help to build a search form for a website, which should locate the nearest dealership based on either the location shared by the user (if the user is on a smartphone, then if the GPS is on the dealership/s is/are located by it, else the user has an option to enter a postcode on the webform as well, and from there locate the dealership/s).

I've seen the google APIs which do this, but need to provide the client with more options (at least 3) so that they can choose the best one, and preferably free APIs which could do this.
