Hello,

I have a PC at the office, which was by default a Windows 8 Pro OEM licensed one (not 8.1), but for some unknown reasons, it was downgraded to Windows 7 Pro, which is again showing "OEM" in the activation Product ID.

I would like to format and perform a clean install of Windows 10 Pro (v. 1803) on the PC, and use the existing Windows 8 Pro OEM key to activate it after install.

I would like to get a second opinion before doing so, knowing that the PC did not receive any of the Windows 10 free upgrades etc. in the past?

Thanks.

Tried the linux option as well, but still micro sd was not detected at all in the adapter. Looks like it's dead for sure now, no way to recover anything... :(

Problem seems to have been solved, as PC is running properly

Thanks for this tip rproffitt, managed to get it to update from this by downloading from the Microsoft Update Catalog

rproffitt commented: Thanks for trying that. Comment about it below. +12

This folder may be part of an update installed by Windows or a software like .NET framework which creates this folder to create a temporary access for it's extracted files used during installation.

Best is to set it as "Hidden" and leave it alone.

If you really want to delete it, then I leave the after-effects for you to ponder on, but you can install and use the software "Unlocker" (Google it to get the download link as well) and proceed with deleting the folder (you can use youtube here to see how to use it properly).

@rproffitt - The IP range of the WiFi connection is completely different from that of the LAN one. In fact, the WiFi is open to public, so anyone can just switch on WiFi on a mobile phone and get access.

I've used MobaXterm (home edition) to connect from Windows for several Ubuntu servers, using SSH of course.

Hello.
I have an issue, where I want to prevent domain users with administrative rights from modifying the password of the local administrator account on their respective computers. Any way of implementing this?

I managed to get the required ISO finally via a direct link (although it was in German) where I could choose which version to download as well:

I believe you may be referring to something similar to what is explained in this link:

Google can also help you more with specific searches.

have you tried with a "background-size:cover" css?

Have you tried running a virus/malware scan on the drive? Check also whether your hibernate option is switched on and if so where it is storing the file

if you want to run 2 instances of windows on same pc, then I believe one of them has to be a vm image running alongside, with the vm running in fullscreen mode on one of the 2 monitors connected, as I usually do this at home, with one monitor connected to VGA, and one connected to DVI ports, and running a vmware image of ubuntu in fullscreen mode on my second monitor, while keeping my windows on the first monitor... In vm you can then use the same keyboard and mouse connected to the desktop for interactions

I would suggest Drupal with the Galleria module, very easy way to add and display photos as slideshow, else Wordpress, or these specialised CMS for photo hosting:

Am not sure, like I said before, I had to go in depth with MatLab to do my own project (with the use of Hidden Markov Model toolbox + Voicebox), but I think on google I found something called WinDentify, which is for Windows logon, try to google it and see, but its not freeware. Can give this link a try as well http://www.loquendo.com/en/products/speaker-verification/

I know that Microsoft does provide Speech Recognition engine with Windows, where it can be used in apps like MS Word, but not suitable for your purpose.

See also this link for some examples in MatLab:
http://www.speech-recognition.de/matlab-examples.html

Sorry if am not helping too much, the said project I developed was a university one, and I've almost lost track of the processes I did in it :)

I had worked on a similar project some years back, as far as I can tell (unless changes have happened), there were no ready-made projects as such, and I had to develop it from scratch using MatLab software. I found an SDK here which could be useful to you: http://www.voicerecognition.com/products/dragon/developersuite.html
But I believe it is best you investigate and come up with your own software for this, of course you will need some prebuilt dlls or sdks as well if you want to integrate it with windows, mine was for a VB application

you can try get a tool like CCleaner to clean the registry for redundant entries
Check also the startup folder to see if a startup shortcut for this prog exist there

You are talking about the VGA connector (the cable) but am referring to the VGA socket and slot (socket is on the card where you plug the monitor's cable, and slot on the motherboard where the card itself is plugged).
It could be the socket is no longer working on the card, or the slot itself is not working properly on the board, or sometimes (which happened to me once) one of the capacitors on the card may have been overheated and damaged, thus no image on screen but windows etc loading properly, and had in the end to replace the card

I think to write emails and in facebook etc, it's the editor which must support this language, and not the browser, like I've seen an icon to change to indian language in Gmail's email editor

However, just in case, you could try the addons for Firefox on this link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/extensions/language-support/

A more specific addon could be: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/google-transliteration-formerl/

or y not add the firefox addon of the tool u mentioned above: http://www.lipikaar.com/download/firefox
hope it helps
