I acquired a compaq presario 2100 when I turn it on I don't hear the fan come on & it starts to boot for about 20 seconds then goes completely dead again. The battery doesn't seem to be charging at all. so I am trying this by keeping it plugged in. Could it be that the fan is faulty on the power supply or does a laptop have that feature like a desktop? don't have the funds to take it to a shop. so any feedback would be appreciated greatly. thank you God bless & hope to hear from someone real sooon I can be reached at msrobertar@att.net

Welcome to the forums,
Can you try and run it with the Battery removed and only the AC charger in?
If that works then you need to buy a new battery or you can repair your old battery.
