So I was just asking ChatGPT for some good discussion starter ideas, and it came up with asking the community what your keyboard layout is (QWERTY vs Dvorak? AZERTY?)? And I thought, REALLY?! Do people (in English-speaking countries, at least) really use non-QWERTY keyboards? What kind of question is that? And then it got me thinking that maybe I should ask you guys, at the very least, what you think of the question :)

For the past I can't even tell you how many years (decades), I've used a mechanical keyboard. These days I'm using an Azio Retro Classic, but I've always used mechanical for as long as I can remember. I used to love Das Keyboard, first with Cherry MX Brown, and then Cherry MX Blue switches.

What do yo use?

I'm not a keyboard fetishist so don't go in for the whole mechanical keyboard thing. I'm typing right now on my standard laptop keyboard, which is a standard UK qwerty layout. For my more permanent setup I have a Microsoft Ergonomic 4000 keyboard which is very comfortable and has pretty much eliminated the RSI that I started to get 15 years ago. Other than the key placement layout and general keyboard contour it's a standard UK qwerty keyboard.

Strictly QWERTY. I've never gotten the hang of touch typing. I have to look at the keys. I had the same problem with piano. Two years of piano lessons and I never learned how to sight read. I think it's a wiring problem (brain, not keyboard).

As a fun addition, I've used the FrogPad in the past:

Takes some getting used to, but for regular typing it's really awesome. For coding not so much. I had to rearrange the layout to make it work more logical.
