Having problems with way too many pop-up of IE when using Firefox. Ran Hijack this

Thanks so much for your help. I have done everything on your checklist, and for an hour now, have had no IE popups (where I would normally have about 25). I will update you again in a day, with good news I hope.

Are you running any extensions in Firefox like IE Tab or IE View? If so, disable them.

The only extension I am running is the AIM toolbar for Firefox. Is that one ok? No IE extensions.

Uh oh, they're back! It did ok for about 3 hours, now I am getting IE popups about every 3 minutes while I am connected to Firefox. More suggestions?

- to run it dclick combofix.exe and follow the prompts to start it. When finished, it will produce a log, C:\Combofix.txt - post that log in your next reply.
A word of caution - do not touch your mouse/keyboard until the scan has completed. The scan will temporarily disable your desktop, and if interrupted may leave your desktop disabled. If this occurs reboot to restore the desktop.

I did the reg edit, but then I cannot find the deskbar folder you want me to delete. So far, no IE popups. Will keep you posted.

The system has been stable for 24 hours now with no IE pop ups. Are there any precautions I need to take for the future? Should I not run IE anymore, and just stick with Mozilla? Thanks so much for your help.

Your Trend package does not include a firewall. I would not rely on windows firewall [it is great until you actually invite something in, then it offers no protection at all. A surprisingly high number of viruses and other malware are invited in].
Here is a choice of three free ones. Being lazy, I only put in one URL:

Finally, get this:
Spywareblaster . Free also, if you use IE it blocks a lot of poisonous ActiveX controls. It also blocks a swag of bad websites [it is not a tool of moral crusaders, it only blocks websites which will harm your pc, it doesn't care about you.. :)]. And it is no load on your pc.
