Blank Screen following Windows Start Up

I'm hoping I am posting this int he right forum. From articles I have found on the net, I am inclined to beleive that I have a nasty virus that is making my screen appear blank.

When Im at my PC I turn it on, it loads the Windows XP screen, then goes blank, no option to go into the BIOS beforehand, its flashes to quick. So it then goes blank after Windows XP... if I press enter, my profile loads...I hear the generic logging in sound, and MSN automatically logging in etc but cant see anything.

Then if I go down stairs to the laptop I can access my shared drives, and I can get a connection to remote into the PC from the laptop. However the screen I am remoting into is blank, so I cant do anything, I think I have a virus, but I cant see anything to be able to quarauntine it etc.

I had no problems previous to this, the first problem I had was logging out of a online game, the system froze and I had to perform a hard reboot, then the above occured. I also cant turn off the unit, unless I power it off at the socket.

Also I am assuming the Graphics Card is fine, as there have been no other performance issues, and the Windows XP loading message is peachy bright and shiney. The monitor is also working fine with other Base Units.

After the bios screen flashes up, pressF8 repeatedly and see if the boot GUI comes up, if it does, try booting into safe mode.

Your problem was not malware related I'd say.

Have a look in event viewer and see if there is something there that may shed light on your problem. INSTRUCTIONS

Also, see if your machine will now boot into normal mode.

Unfortunately that doesnt seem to have solved the problem.

Hi Sorry for the delay in reply.

You were right, it wasnt a malware issue.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for my graphics card.

All is okay now. :)
