My desktop is now all black with a message saying how you can still access deleated files of the hard drive and that spyware can access it, followed by hyperlink that says "removal instructions". This seems to be sitting on top of my background image, and if you right click, it is as if the desktop is an internet explorer background. When I went to it's properties, I found that this file's URL is file://C:\WINDOWS\screen.html - and this is only the start of the problems.
A program that appeared to be an anti virus program called "Antivirusgold 2.0" seemed to have installed itself, and was bugging me to register it by continualy popping up boxes. I uninstalled the program and this went away.
Down in the area next to the clock there is a little red circle with a white X on it that doesnt seem to be doing anything except display a speech bubble saying "(i) Your Computer is Infected! Protect Your Computer From Viruses. You need to use antivirus software" which pops up randomly, and when you right click it. Nothing happens when you left click it, and when you hover over it, it says "Your computer is infected!". At first I thought this might genuinely be a feature of Windows XP, but I did a search and found another thread on this website that also had a red dot.
When I use the google toolbar or go to the Firefox Startup page, which is run by google, I get a "404 Not Found" page  . The google home page works, but when I do a search, it says the number of matches found, but rather than showing them, it shows only one result, which is to http://www.sexaccess.com
My home page in internet explorer has been replaced with http://www.top20results.com, and a few shortcuts were placed on my desktop tho various search results on that website.
I have done multiple scans using Spybot, Ad-Aware, Trojan Hunter, and Avast, all of which came up with lots of problems which I have repaired, and some of the problems went away, but those I have described still remain.
I tried doing a system restore, and that seemed to fix everything except the google search results, so I undid the restore, as I am assuming it would be better to try and get rid of this properly.
Can you help me????
I will post a HijackThis log.
