Hi there

My norton keeps alerting me to the above trojan. So far I have tried:

deleting the file from where I am told it is located C:\WINDOWS\ but it cannot be found even with hidden files shown.

ending the process in task manager but cannot see it.

locating it in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE again it is not shown.

Have run Spybot S&D, Norton and Ad Aware, all in normal and in safe mode, but to no avail. Noron does locate and delete the file in safe mode but it returns when I connect to the net. Killbox cannot find the file to delete it.

Can you advise how to get rid of this???

Many thanks

I have posted my hijackthis log below:

Hi,
Run HijackThis, and select the below listed entry:-

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://g.msn.co.uk/0SEENGB/SAOS01

Close all other open programs except Hijackthis and click the button Fix Checked in HijackThis.

Perform an online virus scan at Panda ActiveScan with the "Disinfection" option enabled. Then save the log file it gives.

Reboot the PC, run HijackThis again, and post a new log file, along with Panda ActiveScan log. Also scan using Norton, and check whether it detects any viruses or not.

Hi

I have deleted the entry as advised.

Norton did not find anything.

By the way, the norton trojan warning is no longer appearing when I am online.

The warning message name changed to a system32 file which I deleted on reboot using moveonboot.

I am not sure which action taken so far has caused the warning to disapear :) but I want to be sure its gone!

Thanks for everything so far

Joanna

Hi,
HijackThis log looks clean :)
But there are few more files to delete, as these files are not disinfected by Panda ActiveScan.
Delete these files:-
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\WildApp.inf
C:\WINDOWS\switpc.dat
C:\WINDOWS\switps.dat
And delete this folder:-
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Favorites\Fun & Games
Also, delete ALL the files and foldes inside the Favorites folder.(Dont delete the Favorites folder itself.)

hi swatkat

I have deleted the rest of the files you have highlighted.

I hope that its gone for good! Do you think its safe to enable system restore now?

Thanks for your time and your advice. :cheesy:

Joanna

Hi,
:) Everything looks fine, now! Yes, you can enable System Restore now.

Thanks for all your help!

I think i will go on a course and try to learn a bit more about fixing my pc!

all the best
Joanna ;)

Hi Swatkat

I have not been able to get rid of the below:

O23 - Service: NVIDIA Driver Helper Service (NVSvc) - NVIDIA Corporation - C:\WINDOWS\System32\nvsvc32.exe

I tried to unistall it from the Control Panel and my pc restarted with all the pixels and colours messed up and won't allow me to change them back in properties.

Can you help and should I start a new thread?

Thanks

Hope you don't mind if I cut in...

Why are you trying to remove this? It's the driver for you video card.

You now need to reinstall your video card drivers either with the CD that came with your computer, the CD that came with the card (if you added it seperately), or you can download them from the manufacturers (NVIDIA) website.

Hi ,
Yes, that's the service related to the nVidia Display Card or ChipSet. If you have a Graphics Card (Video Card), then reinstall the drivers from the CD that came with the card. I you dont have the Graphics Card, then you will get the drivers in the CD that came with the Motherboard. Or you get the drivers at nVidia website too.
