I have a bad virus Please Help?

Ok about a week ago I got infected with the Spy Sherriff virus but I was able to get rid of it with spyware removal tools and stuff but now im getting the NT Authority/System Shutdown error with the RPC message and also the Generic Process for Win 32 Error when I start my laptop up. I am unable to install Norton because of fatal errors and when I try to run any of the windows patches I get the "blue screen of death" Can anyone tell me what is wrong. I see signs of multiple infections in your log (in addition to the symptoms you describe, which sound like Blaster worm doings). Let's see if we can gain back some control with the utilities you currently have:

You will need to close/quit all web browser programs and disconnect from the Internet for the following, so you should print out these instructions or save them into a text file with Notepad.

* If the NT Authority/RPC/Generic Host Process errors are giving you the 60-second shutdown timer, do the following before the timer expires to abort the shutdown:
- Click on you Start button, and then click the "Run..." option.
- In the resulting "Open:" dialog box, type the following and then click "OK":
shutdown -a

* If your computer allows, download and install the most current updates for AVG and Spyware Doctor.

* Physically disconnect your network cable from the computer.

* Open the Services utitilty in your Administrative Tools control Panel
- Locate the service named "Microsoft Time server 1" and double-click on it.
- In the General tab of the Properties window that opens, click the Stop button.
- Once the service is stopped, choose Disabled in the "Startup Type" drop-down menu and then click OK.
- Close the Services utility after that.

* Run another HijackThis scan, put a check in the boxes to the left of the following entries, and then click the "Fix Checked" button:

* Reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

• Restart your computer
• After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
• Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
• Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
• Log in to the Administrator account.

* Run AVG and Spyware Doctor; have them fix all malicious items they find.

* Open Windows Explorer, and in the Folder Options->View settings under the Tools menu, select "show hidden files and folders", and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extentions for known file types".

Search for the following files and delete them if they still exist:

Update: Since following the directions the computer was working for a few hours and now when I log in it loads everything and then goes to the blue screen of death before I can start loading anything myself. Maybe this info will help. Thanks.

I would love to do that but it comes on for about a second or so and then restarts the computer. I installed Omega drivers on my computer and they were working fine until after i did the stuff to get that nt virus off. now i can only log in on safe mode. Should i reinstall my old drivers?

Doing that might compound the problem rather than fix it.

Let's turn off the function that automatically restarts the computer after a BSOD failure; that will at least allow you to read the entire BSOD error screen. The screen could contain a useful error code or filename which will help us narrow donw the cause:

* Right-click on your My Computer icon and choose Properties from the resulting drop-down menu.
* In the System Properties window, click on the Advanced tab.
* Under the Startup and Recovery section of the Advanced tab, click the Settings button.
* Under the System Failure section, check the Write an event to the system log option and uncheck the Automatically restart opiton.
* Click the OK button in the Startup and Recovery window and then OK again in the System Properties window.
The next time the BSOD occurs, the system will just freeze on the Blue Screen instead of restarting. Write down the full and exact contents of the BSOD error and post it here.

0x08E stop errors iusually ndicate either a driver problem or a faulty RAM module.

* Given that particular STOP error, it would be a good idea to roll back/uninstall/reinstall the Omega drivers and any other driver software you may have recently added or chenged.

* Run the System File Checker, which will attempt to find/replace/repair damaged or missing Windows system files. Info on SFC can be found here.

* Open the Event Viewer utility in your Administrative Tools control panel and look through your System and Application logs for entries flagged with "Error" or "Warning", especially those that occur at or very near the time that the system Blue Screens.
Double-clicking on such an entry will open a properties window with more detailed information on the error; post the details from a representative sample of some of the different error messages (please don't post duplicates or flood us with the entire logs). To do so:

In the Properties window of a given entry, click on the button with the graphic of two pieces of paper on it; the button is at the right of the window just below the up arrow/down arrow buttons. You won't see anything happen when you click the button, but it will copy all of the details to the Windows clipboard. You can then paste the details into your next post here.
(Please note that booting into Safe Mode generates a lot of error messages about different components not being able to load, but this is normal. You'll have to use your own intuition when sorting these messages out from messages that might actually apply to your BSOD.)
