Serious errors, and MSN problems

Hi

Last night, i switched my machine off, but it asked if it could download updates first, so I said yes, then went to bed. I woke up in the midddle of the night with the PC still running, so i had a look and it had a blue screen saying there was a fatal error. I was half asleep so just switched it off using the button. In the morning when i started it up it said, the system had just recovered form a serious error. Now when I try to go on msn itstarts its connection but after a few secs, it comes up with the "MSN has encountered a problem and must close"

Iv tryed re installing it(7.0) and even inastalling messegner live, but it still comes up the same. Windows messenger works though!

Iv recently noticed, that my usernames and password on websites dont log me in automatically, as they usualy have done( and i havnt deleted my cookies)

Iv ran Spybot, and Nortons, which hasnt sorted it.

Not too sure about the log, but in such cases, i recommend running System Restore to restore the computer to a point where it was working. Use System Restore and see if you can resolve the issue.

Hi, I've tried restoring it to every restore point for this month, but after the computer restarts, it says, restore was unsuccesfull or something along those lines. It then asks me to pick another date to restore to.

For some reason, my windowes firewall has been disabled, and when i try to enable it, it says it has encountered a problem, please goto to the systematic website.

Are you talking about Windows Firewall or Symantec Firewall?

Try running the 'sfc /scannow' command to see if any critical system files are missing.
