i have a slight problem. my computer will shut off automaticly whenever i try one of the following things...

extracting something from winzip or winrar
burning a cd or dvd
converting a file <example> avi file to mp4

it's making it very difficult to do these things when i do them daily. does anyone know how to help?

computer specs:

windows XP

intel
celeron CPU 2.80GHz
640 MB of RAM
ACPI Uniprocessor PC

have you run chkdsk.also check for viruses
