Re: Perhaps this is a software problem? If you're using Windows, boot into safe mode and then just leave it for a lil over an hour. Don't open any programs, etc. (Enough time to convince yourself it won't happen if you're in safe mode).
Re: graphics cards have a GPU, graphical processing unit, so they can use hardware rendering without relying heavily on CPU time
Re: Gee I'm sorry 'bout that. Tough luck. A part of a motherboard can be fried meaning that some things will work while others won't. Lights powering on, unfortunately, doesn't mean your motherboard is all good 2 go. Unfortunately, I'm no hardware expert. Perhaps someone else here would have some more …
I was just browsing The Wayback Machine and came upon (thanks to Dan) the old version of TechTalk back at our launch in February 2002. It's been a long year and a half with even more designs that I can count. Does anyone remember this guy .... ?
Re: I don't know if this makes sense or is what you're asking for. However, could you encrypt the file? And then provide a decryption algorithm in the exe file. If the right information is provided, the contents of the file are read into some sort of buffer and decrypted? Perhaps …
Re: DriveImage 3 is a pretty old version, no? If you're using the NTFS file system with Win2k, make sure drive image has support for it. That's the first thing. Second thing is, why can't you access the hard drive without mounting it?? I'm sorta confused. I've only mounted filesystems in …
Re: Ooh! I never knew about that lil trick. I just tried it. Kewl stuff!
Re: As in "other visual styles" are you referring to TGTSoft's StyleXP?
Re: You can change the environment ... by changing the operating system. If it's that important to you, dual boot Windows XP with an older version of Windows that has 16-bit support.
Re: Please don't double post. Everyone can visit [thread]912[/thread] in the Internet Explorer forum
Re: It seems like a permissions problem. Windows NT/2000/XP have multiple user support, meaning that users have ownership of files. Right click the files and view their properties. Are you their owner? Are you the owner of the new 160gb drive?
Re: Please don't double post. People can access the post at [thread]872[/thread] Thanks
Re: As far as I know, and I could be wrong, any modem should work so long as it's not a WinModem (software-based modem)
Re: Sorry, I can't help :( No experience with sendmail. I guess I don't need to say to check out man pages at sendmail.org. Aside from that, check out the RedHat documentation on redhat.com. They're often pretty good and easily adaptable to other linux distros as well.
Re: Perhaps if you flash your BIOS and something goes wrong, you have a back-up copy of the BIOS that could be automatically transferred to the corrupt BIOS. Just an idea. I've never heard of one either.
Re: You would need to check with the motherboard manufacturer to see what your particular motherboard is capable of. However, if it's a PII motherboard, it can definitely only support a PII processor.
Re: Sorry, I have no experience with workgroupmail. Have you changed any network settings in that amount of time?
Re: Are there any windows updates still left to do? This started happening right after you used windows update? Try the mozilla or opera web browsers - they're really good alternatives and a lot nicer than netscape is. (especially opera is very feature-rich)
Re: Quite interesting. I, too, used babelfish to do some translating but still could only barely make out the story. I didn't really have a lot of time to look at it though. Perhaps I'll take a second glance later. Thanks for the scoop!
I'm using IE6 SP1 with Windows XP Pro. This just started happening recently (I think when I updated some components via Windows Update but I'm not sure exactly). But now if I try to view the source of a webpage (by right clicking or from the view menu) nothing happens …
Re: Does this happen with any website, or just a particular one?
Re: Please don't double post. For anyone interested, please respond to the thread here: [thread]843[/thread] Thanks!
Re: Do you know what sound card you're using? If it's a SoundBlaster, go to [url]www.creative.com[/url] and download the latest drivers from there. Any other sound card, go to the appropriate site and download the latest drivers. Perhaps the drivers are installed and sound is just disabled by default? Go into …
Re: Now that you have a clean system, what sorta things are going wrong? Perhaps this is a hardware problem?
Re: The motherboard is a Shuttle AB60R?? I've never heard of this. Perhaps you could send us a link to the motherboard specs? Are you sure your motherboard supports DDR400 RAM, SATA hdds? I don't use SATA hdds, but I use a SATA raid card and SATA-->IDE conveters. And boy oh …
Re: Right now, here are my current plans/ideas for the tutorials. Feel free to let me know your input :) What I was thinking is that any user could submit tutorials online via either e-mailing me or via a textbox on a submission form, etc. They'd automatically just go into some …
Re: In the device manager, does the card have an exclamation point next to it?
Re: What version of Windows are you using? Right click on "My Network Places" on your desktop and go to "Properties". Select your LAN connection, right click it, and choose to set as default.
Re: I'm sure this isn't the answer you were looking for either ... but you do have "synchronize guest with host" enabled, right? Perhaps you can use some other time synchronization utility? Sorry, I've never heard of ntpd? Is that supposed to be some sorta time sync daemon?
Re: File manager? | |
Techtalk styles are back in full swing ... once again is the option between the flat and the 3D style. While the default remains the flat view, simply go into your profile to view the 3d version of the site! Enjoy!
Re: I read your original post right after you first wrote it but sorry, no experience with Word macros other than I know what they are.
Re: I wouldn't recommend doing this. It's much better to let Windows XP find and detect all the correct drivers (including cpu, bus, mobo, etc) on a clean install. I once moved a hdd with WinXP on it from an Intel machine to an AMD machine. It loaded fine the first …
Re: What game is it? The computer just doesn't like this one game? Perhaps it has a problem with Radeon mobility cards? I used to have a problem w/ my Radeon and "The Sims" ... it kept randomly restarting my computer (due to a bugcheck, according to the event viewer)
Re: Check out this thread: [url]http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/showthread.php?t=306[/url] Unfortunately, I have the same problem and have yet to find a solution.

Re: For some reason the flash plugin for IE is saved with temporary internet files. Everytime I clear my cache of temps, I have to reinstall the flash plugin. Do you have IE preferences set to delete temp internet files upon browser shutdown?
Re: Here's what I would do. Use Partition Magic to create two or more new partitions out of the free space on the current partition. One of those should be only a few megs in size, located at the head of the physical hdd, and be the boot partition. This is …
Re: Heh. Cute. I split this topic off from the Word Association thread because I didn't think it really fit in there.
Re: Are you upgrading from a previous version of Windows? Is this a clean install? A new hard drive? What was previously on the drive? Is it a new computer?
Re: Gosh there's a lot you want to do with these drives. I happen to be a fan of PowerQuest Partition Magic, but that's entirely up to you. Now is your 30gig drive partitioned in half, for Windows2000 and WindowsMe? Converting a FAT32 drive to NTFS isn't really a huge problem …
Re: I think we need a bit more specifics. Is there a redraw function by any chance? Are you using QT? Why doesn't putting main() code into a loop work? You mean it doesn't redraw child windows?
Re: First let me make sure you have a directory on the host computer mapped as a drive on the virtual machine, correct? This probably could be done via a batch file although I'm not exactly sure what the copy command for client\*.* to host\*.* is. However, most back-up software should …
Re: Sound is run via sound card drivers ... how exactly did you delete those? Check with HP on the model of your sound card and then re-download the appropriate sound card drivers. They might be provided on the restore disks though I am not positive of this. Otherwise, are you …
Re: It looks to me as if the problem is that you are applying a CSS file (cascading style sheet) to every page. Here's what to do. Go to the Tools menu in IE and then click on Internet Options. The General tab should appear first. Check out the "Colors" and …
Re: Tetris perhaps? How about a simple solitaire game or even blackjack, perhaps? Or tic-tac-toe? Something that would use simple artificial intelligence to have the computer react based on user's actions.
Re: Perhaps this is related to a firewall you're running?
Re: You said you've used Windows2000 and Windows98 without a problem. I take it you're using Windows XP now? On the computer hooked up to the printers, edit the printer shares to make sure they don't require a username or password. Otherwise, on the client computers end, is there a place … |
